2013 Youth Awards
Challenge and Change Award
Recognises a young person who has made a substantial turn-around in their life. This young person will have demonstrated personal growth whilst overcoming challenges in their day-to-day life.
Group Project Award
Aims to recognise a group of young people who have developed or implemented a project which has benefited both the young people involved and the broader community. The group could be a school group, environmental group, volunteer organisation group, club or similar.
Sporting Award
Recognises a young sports person (individual or as part of a team) for outstanding achievement in leadership in sport. This includes making a difference to the community through sport or through volunteering their time to a non-profit sporting organisation.
Adult Ally - Volunteer
This award is open to those over 25 years and aims to recognise an individual who has helped make a difference to young people in their community. Through demonstrating that it is possible to be a mature and highly valued member of the community, they show the young people they volunteer with that anything is possible. This award is not for someone who is employed in the youth field.
Performing Arts Award
This award aims to recognise and promote the work of young people involved in the performing arts. Performing art areas include music, dance, opera, drama, magic, spoken word and circus arts.
Positive Youth Award
This award recognises and celebrates a young person who exhibits personal attributes which foster a positive appreciation of our young people. In turn, this person, helps to positively promote young people to the community.
Youth Leader Award
Recognises a young person who has shownsignificant leadership within the community. They may have led youth initiatives or held positions of leadership in committees or groups.
Youth Community Safety Award
This award recognises the contribution of a youth led project or initiative to create a safer environment for all members of the community.
Visual and Design Award
Aims to recognise the contribution to the local community by young people through visual arts and design. This includes traditional art forms such as drawing and painting, video, films, electronic imaging, ceramics, stage design and other forms of visual art.
Young Carer Award
Recognises young individuals who are giving their time to make life more comfortablefor a family member. This help can be the difference between hospital or home, happiness or depression. This award aims to recognise a young carer who is making an outstanding contribution by caring for someone in their family.
Youth Volunteer Award
Aims to recognise a young person who makes an outstanding effort to contribute to the community through volunteering. This person shows great dedication and commitment to the cause or causes they support.
Adult Ally - Worker
Aims to recognise the contribution made by a paid worker, who goes above and beyond while working and supporting young people in the community. This person could be a youth worker, school counsellor, teacher or similar.
MAJOR AWARDSALL NOMINEES ELIGIBLE FOR:
City of Ballarat Award (12 – 17 years)
This young person does not need to be a high achiever, but someone who has consistent and genuine efforts in various aspects of their life. This may include schooling, employment, community involvement or supporting peers etc.
City of Ballarat Award (18 – 25 years)
This young person is someone who has consistent and genuine efforts in various aspects of their life. This may include secondary and tertiary studies, employment, community involvement or supporting peers etc.
