Chalk for Students

Chalk for Students is a guide designed for Chalk version 9.1. Students may use this as a desk reference when completing tasks in Chalk.

Personalize My Chalk

Oftentimes, students want to remove a link(s) to a previous course from their Chalk Couse List. Use the steps below to remove the link(s).

  1. In the title of the Chalk Course List module, click on the sprocket icon.
  2. A list of courses appears.
  3. Under the Course Name column, uncheck the checkbox for the courses you would like to hide.
  4. Under the Announcements column, uncheck the checkbox for the announcements you would like to hide.
  5. Click on the Submit button.

Submit an Assignment

Chalk allows students to not only view assignments, but submit them online as well.

  1. Click into the course for which you want to submit an assignment.
  2. Locate the area the professor added the link for the assignment you want to submit.
  3. Click on the name of the assignment item.
  4. Step 1: you will find general information about the assignment.
  5. Name

  10. Alternatively, you may upload a file.
  11. Max file size to upload is 250 MB. Your machine/Chalk may lock up if larger than this file size.
  12. Type comments in the Comment field, if necessary.

Check Grades

If the professor has made Grades available to students to view, they may be viewed from the My Grades menu item in each course on the left side.

  1. Click on the link to a course.
  2. From the menu, click on the My Grades link.
  3. View the grades for graded assignments.

XanEdu Course Pack

Most professors are using an electronic course pack for supplemental cases, readings and assignments.

Troubleshooting XanEdu

After you click on the XanEdu link in Chalk, you are prompted to enter your pack access code. If you have never accessed a course pack via the internet before on the machine you are using, you will be prompted to install a plug-in, which will enable you to be able to view the contents of the course pack.

  1. On the installer page, in step 1, click on the Click here link to download the installer.
  2. Click on the Run or Open button to install the plug-in.
  3. In step 2, click on the click here link to write the cookie for the browser so it remembers you have installed the plug-in.
