CFGS Homework Guidance

  • The above timetable is designed to support you by providing a plan of which homework to complete on each evening of the week. It outlines the subject combinations that students in EQUA and LITY will have on the days specified.
  • Teachers will set homework on the day (or one of the days) that you have their lesson and they will plan for you to complete your homework on the day that the subject is in the timetable.
  • In Year 7 it is expected that you will spend 1 to 1.5 hours on your homework each evening. You may also be expected to complete homework at the weekend e.g. for longer activities, projects and research.
  • ‘Independent Reading’ means you should spend 30 to 45 minutes reading a book of your choice during this time. Although, at CFGS we recommend that you try and read for a minimum of 20 minutes every day.
  • ‘Independent Study’ is your opportunity to extend your learning in any of your subjects. It is also an opportunity to research or learn about another topic that you may not be currently studying.
  • It is important that you write all your homework set by your teachers in your diary. Your tutors will check to see that this has been completed.
  • Also remember to check Show My Homework (SMHW) as most of your teachers will ‘post’ your homework online for you to login and access. You can access your SMHW account using your student login on any computer, your mobile phone or tablet.
