Job title: KS2 English Teacher

Reports to:Head of Junior School

Responsible for:

Teaching English according to the curriculum and teaching other subjects such as RE to KS2 level.

Usual office base: St Andrews School

Grade: Teachers’ Pay scale

Job purpose:

To deliver English Curriculum to KS2 pupils, some teaching of other subjects required.

Job objectives:

The KS2 English Teacher will play a major role under the direction of the Head of the Junior School in:

  • Leading, managing and developing all aspects of English teaching in designated year group with direction from the Head of the Junior School.
  • To lead and manage curriculum content and delivery
  • Review and implement the curriculum.
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate lessons.
  • Teach English, and other subjects as required, to designated year group.
  • Mark work regularly, test and report on pupils’ progress/conduct.
  • Be responsible for pupils’ discipline and pastoral care in designated class
  • Ensure effective systems are in place to provide high levels of communication regarding English in designated year group and the class, with staff and parents
  • Participate in programme of Staff Continuous Professional Development

  • To take responsibility for their own learning and development and promote the development of others under your supervision
  • Work as part of the teaching team promoting good morale

Curriculum Responsibility:

 Review implementation of the School Curriculum in English, and other subjects taught, for Year Group

 Delivery of English and other subjects to KS2 pupils
