Each gas turbine generating unit comprises two Rolls-Royce Avon gas generators and one GEC power turbine driving an air cooled ac generator for 23.6 MWe, 11,000 volt, 50 Hz base load electrical power supply at ISO conditions (15 Deg c , 1.013 bar).
DUTYThe units are suitable for base, peak, or standby supply.
FUELLight distillate. The units can be adapted to dual liquid/gas or gas firing.
STARTING110v DC starter motor making the units independent of external electrical supplies for start-up.
The aero derivative gas generators and free power turbine makes the units suitable for combined cycle application with or without supplementary firing.

History and Operating Hours
The gas turbines were installed by GEC Gas Turbines Limited in the late 1970’s at a 3,300 MW oil fired power station in England to provide black start capability for the main sets and for standby peak lopping duty.
