Position Summary:

The TFL Cessation Manager is responsible for managing all cessation related activities for the state of Louisiana. This position will work closely with the TFL regional staff, the Louisiana Tobacco Control Program (TCP), the Tobacco Control Initiative, and other external partners to coordinate, manage, and provide updated cessation resources and Quitline information. Additionally, the TFL Cessation Manager will work with the Communications team to ensure program branding standards are met for the Louisiana Tobacco Quitline, The Smoking Cessation Trust, and QuitWithUsLA.org. This position reports to the TFL Associate Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Public Administration, Public Policy or related field required
  • Experience in public health settings
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders at the local and state level, including but not limited to health care providers, and other community organizations.
  • Experience working with budgets and managing initiatives essential
  • Experience with health organizations, healthcare providers, and health systems required
  • Experience implementing local Louisiana health programs preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all cessation inquiries for TFL and TCP, and partners
  • Serve as the cessation expert for the TFL program
  • Develop policy briefs, conduct policy research on cessation and tobacco-free health care facilities, and interact with staff, external partners, decision makers and legislators on findings
  • Provide reporting documentation for statewide cessation efforts and LCRC
  • Provide trainings and workshops on cessation resources, treatment, and health provider education
  • Manage all efforts with the Louisiana Tobacco Quitline and its contractor, and other tobacco control partners
  • Manage all cessation related external partnerships
  • Direct and develop maternal and child health programs associated with cessation
  • Manage and oversee all relationships associated with the Smoking Cessation Trust
  • Plan and manage health systems change initiatives for tobacco dependence treatment
  • Responsible for the statewide oversight of all cessation resources. Administrative oversight entails detailed monitoring/tracking of grant/contract deliverables, invoices, report compilation, continuations/renewals, and work with TFL Media and Communications to develop marketing strategies materials and talking points for cessation
  • Manage implementation resources, tasks and cessation budgets
  • Identify and negotiate existing and future resolution of issues
  • Work closely with TFL program staff, administrative staff, grantees, and contractors to address/resolve issues with grants, contracts, subcontracts, proposals, applications and projects
  • Monitor the health care environment to ensure that TFL and TCP can capitalize on relevant trends
  • Identify best practices and recommend new initiatives and procedures
  • Manage all statewide partnerships with healthcare providers, workgroups, etc.
  • Manage cessation related research activities and grant projects
  • Participate in and evaluate potential initiatives and programs that are being implemented
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to travel to different public health regions within Louisiana. Some overnight travel is required
  • Ability to maintain a highly detail-oriented approach while maintaining an appreciation of the long-term goals and objectives of the program
