CERTIFIED NURSE AIDEAPPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Belowarethe generaladmissionsrequirementsforallhealthprograms followedbytheprogram specificrequirements.Please keepinmindthatadmissiontoallhealthprogramsisa two-phase process: (1) Application to SPCC and (2) Application to Certified Nurse Assistant.
The South Piedmont Community College Nurse Aide Curriculum Program is approved by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation, Health Care Personnel Education and Credentialing Section North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and The North Carolina Board of Nursing. PHASE I: Complete your SPCC Admissions File
Step 1.Complete the SPCCCollege Application at www.spcc.edu
Application to SPCC must be within two semesters of the deadline for Certified Nurse Assistant oryou must have been continuously enrolled at SPCC for the last year. (Continuous enrollment means that you have been enrolled at SPCC and have not stopped out for any reason. On your application to SPCC, you can apply only to one health program (Certified Nurse Assistant).

Graduating high school seniors will be considered with unofficial high school transcripts pending proof of successful graduation. Official transcripts must be submitted after graduation.
Allforeigntranscripts(secondaryandpost-secondary)mustbeevaluatedbyan SPCC recognized evaluationcompany atthe student’s expense. For specific details, see International Transcript Credit information in the College catalog.
Step 3.Preparefor and taketheTest of Adult Basic Education (TABE), if required
- You only need to take the TABE if you cannot provide a high school or high school equivalent transcript showing graduation with a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum score is a 9th grade level on Reading and Math
PHASE II: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Requirements
Step 1.Graduation from an authorized high school or high school equivalent program ORTABE Test score minimum ninth (9th) grade level in Reading and Math.
Step 2.Current Driver’s License or State ID
Step 3.Social Security Card (original, cannot be laminated)

How do I apply for admission to the Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate program?
- CompletePhase1 and2 of the admission requirements (page 2-3).
- Collectrequireddocumentslistedon the CNAapplication pages (page7-8).
- PuttheCNAapplication pages and all proof documentsintoamanilaenvelope.
- Printyour full name,SPCCID,andprogram clearlyin the upper right corner and submit packet to the Admissions Office by close of businesson November 30, 2017.
When are students admitted into the Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate program?
- Studentsareadmittedfalland spring semester each year.
- Seats are filled on a first-come, first-filled basis.
- All health programs have limited seats, competitive admissions.
- If all seats are not filled, the application period may be extended. Any extension will be posted on www.spcc.edu.
How will I know if I’m accepted into the Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate program?
Withina weekoftheprogramapplication deadline,youwill receive notification ofyourprovisionalacceptanceby mail.ONCEYOURECEIVE THIS LETTER,you must:
- Complete any steps listed in your provisional acceptance letter by the deadlines given.
- SubmittheStudentMedicalFormforNorthCarolinaCommunityCollegeSystem Institutions.NOTE:Any medical exam or immunization costistheresponsibilityofthe student.Specific instructions and deadline for completing the form will be emailed within one week of SPCC receiving your confirmationacceptance of your program seat.
