A Brief Report of the Academic year 2011

CSS-Nimmagadda Anandamma Memorial Girls School academic year 2011 has successfully come to an end despite many bundhs and strikes. We at Centre for Social Service thank you for the support that you have given to the students through your sponsorship this academic year also.

All the National festivals were celebrated with much fun-fare in the school. 26th January and 15th August were celebrated with patriotic zeal. 5th September, Teachers Day was celebrated by students donning the role of their teachers for a day and appreciating the efforts that they put up for them. 14th November, Children’s Day was celebrated by the children by putting up an exhibition on Southern States of India Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Rangoli competitions for staff and students, was held during Sankranthi festival.

8th March, International Women’s Day was celebrated for the first time in our school. An oratory competition for 3rd and 4th class students was held on – ‘The importance of girl-child education’. A debate for teachers and helpers on – ‘Pros and Cons of working women’ was also held.

23rdApril 2012, the last working day for the school was celebrated as Parents Day. For the first time the students put up a small skit in English. The school Principal explained the theme of the play in Telugu to the parents. Parents enjoyed the Folk dances, Kolatam and rhymes performed by their children.

CSS-NAM School was fortunate to be chosen for ‘Baal Gurukul programme’. In the last three months of the academic year evening special classes for two hours were held to improve 4th standard students’ communication skills and personality development. From the next academic year this programme will be extended to 3rd class also.Once a month volunteers from an MNC have been coming to our school this academic year to teach special classes for 1st to 4th class students.

All the unit tests, quarterly, half-yearly and annual exams were conducted as per schedule.

We thank all the sponsorers for their continued support to us. Thanks to our combined efforts we are seeing a slow but marked development in the attitude towards education both in the students as well as their parents. Neerusha of 1st class fell ill towards the end of annual exams, but she came to school and wrote the last three exams taking her medication. Sabitha of 1st class lost her father on the last day of annual exams; despite such tragedy she was sent to school by her mother to complete her final exam. We do have drop outs this academic year also though a few we can account to. Keerthana of 1st class had an eye surgery which was detected in the eye-camp conducted in our school. She has not attended school after her surgery and was advised not to strain her eyes for some time. Krishnaveni of UKG lost her father about ten days before the start of annual exams. Her mother went off to her native place and so her education in our school came to an abrupt halt. We hope and pray that she will continue her education. 3rd class Aruna’s family suddenly locked their house and moved out one day before the start of annual exams.

We at Centre for Social Service thank all the sponsorers and their representatives who gave us a boost of energy with their visit to our School.

We hope you would continue your support to us in the future also.
