Central Mass Area Meeting Minutes from May 1, 2017

The NEXT Central Mass Area Service Committee meeting will be June 5, 2017 at 6:30pm at

Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester MA

Please note: Due to a new church policy, we are now required to keep the front door locked at all times. Please ring the doorbell that we have provided. In the event that you are locked out, please call Tyson at (508-)718-9391. Please do not prop the door open even if you just run outside for a few minutes.

ANNOUNCEMENTS TO GROUPS

GSRs please read all announcements at your group business meeting

If your group does not have a GSR, any trusted servant or group member can attend the Area meeting in order to bring concerns, changes or announcements from the group for the area minutes and to bring information and area news back to the group.

  • New meeting: Show Up To Grow Up, 799 South Main St. Worcester, MA. Thursday nights from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm. THIS IS A MEN'S MEETING.
  • The New England Region’s Fellowship Development Subcommittee is available to put on workshops for areas and groups. The regional delegate team travels to various service symposiums throughout each two year cycle. Topics may include” Building strong home groups, Issue Discussion Topics, Atmosphere of Recovery and Service. Fellowship Development can be contacted at NERNA.org
  • The Friday Night “Back To Basics” meeting that meets at Saint Matts church in Worcester from 7-8pm will be moving. Starting April 14th 2017 we will be meeting at “The Gathering” which is located directly across the street from 700 Southbridge St, Worcester Ma.
  • The “Working It Group” is celebrating their 25th Anniversary. Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 at 6pm at Greendale Peoples Church, 25 Francis Street, Worcester, MA. Meetings, Raffle, Food Fellowship and Fun!!! Please contact Kelle S. 508-344-3201 or Linda M. 774-452-3283 with any questions.
  • 34th Annual PIG ROAST, “Freedom, 12 Small Steps for Mankind” on Saturday, May 20th, 10am – 7pm at Quassy Amusement Park, Rte. 64 – 2132 Middlebury Road, Middlebury, CT, Admission $20 in Advance, $25 at the Gate. $6 Parking Pass. Event Chairperson: Ronnie B. 860-213-4143
  • The “Step It Up” Group that meets Tuesdays at 7 Bishop Street in Framingham is changing its start time from 7:30pm to 7:00pm
  • Tuesday night “Principles Before Personalities” Group that meets in West Boylston at 6pm is in need of addict support.
  • Fresh Start (Monday night at Sacred Heart) is celebrating it's 35th anniversary on May 22 at 7 pm before the 8pm meeting. All are welcome.
  • CMANA presents “Skate Into Summer” on Saturday, June 10th at Skylight, 648 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA, $5 and kids under 12 are free. Free Raffle with ticket purchase. Flyer Attached

Central Mass Area Service Committee Meeting May 1st, 2017

The meeting opened with a moment of silence, followed by the WE version of the serenity prayer and a reading of the twelve traditions and twelve concepts.

Activities Committee (Rory M.):

Campout Committee: (Chairperson: Mike H): The Breakfast was a great success. We are now ready to move to the next phase which is planning the campout. If you would like to get involved, please come to our next meeting which is Sunday, May 7th at 6pm at St. Mark’s Church in Leominster. We are still looking to fill positions.

Outreach Committee (Chairperson: Trish F.): A list of meetings that need additict support wen out in the minutes last month. There is also a list that has been sent to website chair. Thanks Trish F. P.S. I will discuss with the committee about attending region in June.

Policy (Chairperson: Evelyn D.):

Public Relations (Chairperson: Teri T.): The Public Relations Subcommittee met this past month . Many ideas are in the making and more will be revealed . On May 7 in Leominster Mass in Carter Park We will have a table at the Community Health Fair . Please come join us and let the public know that NA works .

Project : "LET OUR CITY KNOW” Content : To inform each city that their are NA meetings available in there community .How : on June 5th at the next area meeting all GSR will be given NA Flyers and meeting list and Do and Donts of Flyer hanging and put them at their cities police stations and libraries and etc. Also all GSR s that participate will receive a small gift after they give their report of how and were they put up flyers and meeting list .

Labor Day Cookout Committee (Chuck H.): Fundraiser – CMANA Unity Day Speaker Jam will be held hopefully the last Satruday of June or first Saturday in July at Sacred Heart Church. Speakers will be there from New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

GWA Liaison (Andy M.): No Report.

NA Area Phone Line (Bruce): This month, since April 4th, I received and responded to 2 CMA urgent calls, 11 CMA emails and 5 nonurgent Regional calls. So I’m averaging a contact about every other day. I finished updating the NERNA Phoneline Referral List and David D has sent them out to the other 11 phoneline volunteers throughout the New England Region. OPEN FORUM:

  • H&I is looking for panel leaders at Vets Inc, in Shrewsbury – Monday and Wednesday nights, 7pm – 8pm. If intersted, please contact Jenna J.
  • Workshop for fellowship deveoplment will be held in July. Noel will contact region to have this set up during Area. At na.org you can look up topics under the search field by typing in “IDT”.
  • An addict is interested in looking for a 7 days a week morning meeting. From either 7 – 8 am or 8 – 9 am and was looking for information on how to start a new meeting. Suggests such as attend business meetings, literature options and other addicts with experience opening a meeting names were supplied.
