Central Carroll Recreation Council Scholarship
Central Carroll Recreation Council is now accepting application for a scholarship(s) in the amount of up to $1,000. The purpose of this scholarship is to reward a high school senior who has actively participated and/or volunteered in a Central Carroll Recreation Council program.
Student must meet the eligibility requirement below to receive consideration for this award.
Qualification to determine eligibility for the Scholarship
- Applicant must be a senior in high school
- Applicant must have been a participant in a Central Carroll program and/or volunteered in a Central Carroll Recreation program for a combined minimum of 3 years.
3.Applicant must submit a certified copy of their high school transcript demonstrating a cumulative minimum weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher.
4.Applicant shall demonstrate their intent to become a student in a higher education program,either a 4 – Year College or a Community College.
5. Applicant shall submit a completed scholarship application.
Application Procedures
Applicant shall submit the following to the Central Carroll Recreation Council as detailed below:
- Completed Scholarship Application (attached)
- Certified High School Transcript
- 300 to 500 Word Typed Essay
The CCRC will accept application beginning April 1, 2018; all submissions must be postmarked by April 30th 2018. The scholarship committee will review applications in May and award(s) will be presented prior to June graduation.

Essay Guidelines:
“How has participation and/or volunteering with a Central Carroll Recreation program helped to prepare you for your future?”
Focus your essay on your academic achievements, civic involvement, leadership activities and position you have held in youth sports. You may use one of the three suggested topics below to help you develop your essay or use your own experiences to formalize your essay. Your essay should be 300 – 500 words.
- Leadership/Group Contributions: Describe examples of your leadership experiencesand
share how you have significantly influenced others and helped resolve disputes. How has your involvement with youth sports assisted you in your development of these skills?
2. Community Service: Explain what you have done to make your community a better place to live. Give examples of specific projects in which you have been involved.
- Goal/ Task Commitment: Articulate the goals you have established for yourself and your efforts to accomplish these. Give at least one specific example that demonstrates how your involvement with youth sports in particular Central Carroll Rec. has contributed to your work ethic and diligence.
Format:
Your essay should be typed, double-spaced and submitted on 8.5” x 11” white paper. The font should be Times New Roman, size 12. Limit to 500 words.
