Scholarship Program

The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) is committed to strengthening the positions of blacks within the field of public administration; to increasing the number of blacks appointed to executive positions in public service organization; and to grooming and preparing younger, aspiring administrators for senior level management posts.

The Central Arizona Chapter (CAC) offers the following scholarship opportunity to enhance your career and further your education in Public Administration.

Jacques Avent Scholarship

The Central Arizona Chapter (NFBPA-CAC) has established the Jacques Avent Scholarship Fund for future Black public administrators. Awards valued up to $5000 are given to deserving students. The scholarship is named in honor of Jacques Avent, one of NFBPA’s original founders. Jacques had a long, distinguished public service career. He was the first African-American to hold a senior executive position, serving as executive assistant to the City Council and Deputy City Manager with the city of Phoenix, Arizona.
