Earth’s History Timeline Interactive Website Project
Introduction: For the next week, you will be making an interactive timeline website demonstrating based on Chapter 8 in your text. You will be expected to utilize outside sources for your information in addition to your text. You will be usingNetObjects Fusion 12 to complete your assignment, and will have several requirements for a complete project. The task is big, and will take some time, so use your time wisely!I will be instructing you in the art of Web Design. You will be expected to do the gathering of information and pictures with your team.TentativeDue date: Tuesday, February 11th, 2014
Website Requirements
- There is no specific website size, however pages should be branched to include limited information on each to it is easy to read and navigate.
- Each page should cover only one aspect or subject of the Geologic Time Line
- Links must be provided to navigate throughout the site.
- Several links to external resources relevant to the material must be provided.
- A “Works Cited” page must be included.
Subject Requirements
- Depiction of a timeline of Earth’s history
- Show how the timeline is broken down
- Each Era and Period should be depicted, mostly with their own page
- Some early periods, and some Epochs can be condensed to discuss more than one on a page.
- Each time period should be described, including geological events, types of organisms present, extinctions, what ended the time period, any other pertinent conditions, Pictures/illustrations
Procedures
- I will choose assign your group.
- You will have two computers assigned to each group, and must return to that computer each day.
- Design of each page should be divided among the group members, organize how you see fit.
- Group individuals’ participation will be a part of your grade.
- Start with a plan on paper—decide what each page should include before going to the computer!
- Only first names should be used. They should only show up on the “Works Cited” page.
Grading
You will be graded on the following categories:
- Subject knowledge-your website should have complete information about geologic time periods, what happened in each, the organisms present, extinctions, changes in geology; be instructional and entertaining.
- Website Design-Can the viewer navigate throughout the website easily? Is the layout logical? Are graphics pleasing to the eye? Is the background or graphics distracting, are they related?
- Originality-does the site look like all the others, has some thought and creativity gone into the project?
- Language Mechanics-Use of proper grammar, bullets or outline form when needed. Spelling!
- Teamwork-Each member contributes to the completion of the project.
