Cell Analogy Exercise
Example - The nucleus is analogous to our school’s office, because it controls or coordinates the rest of the school’s function.
My cell analogy is based on: 2012 Hybrid Solar Powered Extreme U-Haul
Nucleus – the computer chip inside the U-Haul that controls the over-all function and operation of the automobile.
Nucleolus – the boss in the main headquarters, who finds the drivers (ribosomes)
Chromatin – the driver’s manual, gives the main instructions
Nuclear membrane – the sound proof walls, insulating the front part of the automobile (where the computer chip and controls are)
Nuclear pore – the door to the front seat or the hood of the car, “authorized personnel only”, only the driver and special people can go in and out.
Cytoplasm – the space inside the back compartment, the space where things take place
Central vacuole/Vacuole – the storage facility OR the place in the U-Haul for materials
Ribosomes – the driver himself(or herself), the worker
Proteins – the exhaust/fuel because it is travels around inside the automobile, or is exported out of it
Endoplasmic reticulum – the new-age conveyor belts on the ramp because it transports things around the automobile
Golgi apparatus – where the driver takes shipments from the storage facility into the U-Haul and has to rearrange and repackage the materials.
Vessel – the boxes themselves, shipping material and containers
Lysosomes – the dumpster where used/broken things from the truck go, the place for waste.
Mitochondria – the engine of the U-Haul, because it is the power source, converting ATP into ADP and ENERGY!!
Chloroplast – my 2012 Model U-Haul is solar powered, very chic, and requires solar energy. It is quite a high-end automobile.
Plasma membrane – the locks and security system that the U-Haul has, because it needs to keep unwanted things out of the cell and keep necessary things in
Cell wall – the sides and walls of the truck, giving structure and support.
