Useful R.E. Resource.

Mostly resources for (training) teachers and governors.

Generally excellent but we question the use of the Kaye Wellings survey to answer the question "How many homosexual people are there in Britain?" The methodology was heavily criticised and many think it underestimates the numbers.

Taught Not Caught: Strategies for sex education

The Clarity Collective LDA 1989 (2nd edition). Practical Resources, some better than others. Currently out of print, but worth looking at if you can get hold of a copy.

Young Gay And Proud!

(Book) Don Romesburg (ed). Forth Edition 1995 .Alycat Books. ISBN 1-55583-001-2

The best book for young gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transsexuals. A must for every secondary school library-get several, pupils are more likely to 'borrow' it surreptitiously than book it out. American so language and cultural differences show at times.

Everyone is Special A handbook for teachers on Sexuality education

Edited by Dr. Lori Beckett published by The Association of Women Educators inc. 1998

Isbn 0 9586087 copies from AWE National Office PO Box Sandgate Qld 4017 Australia

Tel/fax 07 3869 3433 email really worth getting an excellent book which also points the way to other Australian resources.

A DIFFERENT STORY

(Video) ILEA. 1988. From: Educational Media Film and Video Ltd., 235 Imperial Drive, Rayners Lane, Harrow, Middlesex HA2 7HE.

Two 25 minute programmes. Interviews with 18-21 year old gay men and lesbians from a variety of cultural backgrounds. The first programme when they describe coming to terms with their sexuality and coming out, is excellent. The second shows their lives at the time the video was made (but not gay or lesbian venues or relationships) and a debate in a London sixth form. It adds little to the first.

PRIDE OR PREJUDICE?

(Video and teaching pack) 1992. Kirklees Curriculum Support and Development Service, Temple Rd, Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, WF13 3QD.

18 Minutes. Good. Faster tempo and more short 'sound bites' than "A Different Story", but not the same depth.
