Celebrate! Gift Book Program

Family members and friends of those with birthdays, anniversaries, graduations or other festive occasions can donate a minimum of $30.00 and the Library willpurchase a book in recognition of that honoree.

What the library will do….

  • A book appropriate for the library collection and relevant to the interests of your special person will be added to the library collection.
  • You and your special person will be named in a typed gift plate placed within the book.
  • You and your honoree will be mentioned in the Library’s online list of new books.

The Library recognizes major gifts with a wall plaque. The plaque can be in honor or memory of a loved one, or in recognition of the donor. The gift can be one time or ongoing.

Will and Estate Giving

There are many ways to give a gift through your estate plan. An estate planning attorney can help you decide what type of gift you would like to give and how you would like it to be used. Leaving a charitable gift is not difficult or complicated, but should be done with precise language to ensure you accomplish your goals.

I Love MY Library!

The Altamont Free Library is the hub of the community. Patrons gather daily to participate in pot-luck meals, celebrations, concerts in the park, crafts, book clubs and so much more.

Our Library encourages reading and a lifelong love of learning …

...is a place that connects you with the world…

…and creates and sustains our community.

How are we funded?

We are not directly supported through a library tax levy. Instead, each year the Library seeks an appropriation from the Towns of Guilderland and Knox, and the Village of Altamont. For the remaining forty percent of our budget we rely on donations and fundraising events.

What do your donations do?

  • $10 supports storytime crafts for a month
  • $20 buys puppets for our theater
  • $50 covers the expenses for our summer reading kick-off
  • $100 buys 6 new books
  • $500 funds one of our summer concerts

You make a significant difference through a charitable gift of any amount.
