PAC General

Opening:

The fourth General meeting of the Cedar Drive PAC 2017/2018 was called to order at 6:45pm on Wednesday, January 24th, 2018, in the library at Cedar Drive Elementary by Keri Kennett, Chairperson.

General Present:

Karen Last, Karen Eden, Tera Loos, Mary Peterson and Erica Salemink

Keri, Kate, Kim, Lisa, Jamie, Maria, Michelle, Queenie and Mike

Approval of Agenda by Michelle Laity

  1. Budget/Treasurer Report

- See box for report

- Christmas potluck was completed well under budget

- Operating Account total is $20,037.06

- Gaming Account total is $6,232.89

- Fundraising total to date is $1,980.86

- Grade 5 fundraising total is $6,404.39

Motion to approve the Treasurers Report by Mike Blais, motion was passed unanimously.

  1. DPAC

- No report for DPAC

  1. Carnival

- Waleah Blais has been very successful collecting donations outside of the school

- Donation baskets are in classrooms and outside the office. However, we are still in need of donations for Pet Lovers, Wine Lovers, Moms, Dads and Sports Lovers baskets.

- Lisa will be sending out a reminder to those who volunteered to donate to the cake walk

- Mike has started to put up the Carnival signs around town

- Lisa has reported that we are VERY short on volunteers to run the games

  • A notice will go home to the families asking for volunteers and Kim and Lisa will have a signup board at the front of the school on Monday, January 29th.
  1. Dance

- Planning and projects are well underway for the dance

- A notice for at home projects will be going home after the carnival

- Kate and Corrine Wilson will co-chair the dance next year

- Kate and Corrine are considering changing the dance to November for next year

  1. PAC Social

- A PAC Social will be held in the Library on March 1st, 2018 @ 7:00pm – 8:30pm

- Wine and Food will be served

- Four door prizes will be drawn through the night

- Child care will be available

- Members of the PAC will be there to answer any questions about how to get involved in PAC functions and how to become part of PAC Exec.

  1. Grade 5 Committee

- Movie night was a success, raising $692.35

- Christine Tossa donated the popcorn and Candy Bags sold at the movie night

- Treat Day will be January 26th at lunch. $1.00 for a pack of 3 Timbits.

- Hot Dog Day will be February 1st

  1. New Business

- Fruit and Veggie will be Apples on Monday

- Gabby and Mary will be up for recertification this year. PAC will pay for their recertification so we can continue with the Fruit and Veggie program.

- Both Gabby and Mary have volunteered to stay on the program until their children leave in 2020.

  1. Principal’s Report – Brian was not at the meeting, report by Keri

- Enrollment Report

  • 288 up by 3
  • 3 families out / 2 families in
  • Only space in K and Grade 1

- Kindergarten Registration 2018

  • Registration will be held on February 5,6 and 7
  • There is a potential that our numbers may be affected by the opening of Smiling Creek Elementary School

- Jump Rope for Heart

  • The kick off for Jump Rope for Heart was on January 10th
  • Skipping will take place Thursday, February 1st

- There will be no Wednesday morning assemblies from February 5th – March 2nd due to the gymnastics equipment in the gym.
