PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Main objectives and results of research
(10 lines) / To promote the production of safer food and establish natural regulating system
To develop an integrated crop management (ICM) technology which will be adopted by farmers with simple application and reducing the reliance to agro-chemicals.
1. Research on the application method and techniques of Plant Activate Protein in environmental friendly way. Developing a series special formulations adapt to different crop and different growth stage of crop.
2. Study on the application technique of Plant Activate Protein including seed dipping, seed coating, root drench and leaf spray in the field. Combination biocontrol agents and micro-fertilizer technique applied on crops to enhance the crops resistance against plant disease and reduce chemical pesticides in crop production.
3. Research integrated application technique of Plant Activate Protein with other biopesticide on application sequence, apply method, time and frequency.
INNOVATIVE ASPECTS
with respect to state of the art (5 lines) / A novel fungus protein--Plant Activate Protein has been developed as a new biological pesticide with high performance on inducing plant resistance, broad spectrum and multi-functions and an environmental friendly product in China. The protein is heat stable and non-Hypersensitive response (non-HR) in tobacco, with 42kD molecular weight. It could be widely used in various crops with seed dipping, seed coating, root drench and foliar application. Laboratorial and large-scale field biological activities had been tested over 40 species of plants. It revealed that 3% WP plant activate protein controlled various plant disease by 4080% and the crop yield increased by 1020% for grape, strawberry, capsicum, wheat, rice, cotton and tobacco.
MAIN ADVANTAGES (5 lines) / Worked on interrelationship between microbial protein and plants, biology and function of Harpin, molecular mechanism of systematic acquired resistance and growth promotion protein elicitor induced, etc.
Worked on R&D of Messenger® (Harpin) of EDEN Bioscience Corporation which won the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award in USA in 2001.
Focusing on fungus protein pesticide on controlling plant disease and enhancing crop yields. An environmental friendly novel fungus protein--Plant Activate Protein has been granted several patents in China.
