Ceasing VET FEE-HELP operations

VET FEE-HELP providers considering ceasing VET FEE-HELP operations this year must ensure that continuing students are not unduly disadvantaged.

Ceasing VET FEE-HELP operations is a tuition assurance activation event and providers should notify their Tuition Assurance Operator as soon as practicable.

Providers must notify students of the planned end to VET FEE-HELP operations as soon as possible.

Providers must take steps to ensure all students that have not completed their current VET units of study can do so before ceasing.

Providers must also ensure statements of attainment are issued to students, and ensure other information such as details of assessments and training delivered in any competencies not yet completed, is available to assist the student moving to a new provider. Providers should also suggest for students to retain assessments, records of competencies or statements of attainment that they receive from their education provider to assist the student moving to a new provider.Providers, in collaboration with their tuition assurance operator, may also facilitate, with agreement from the student, a move by students to a VET Student Loans provider.

Providers will be required to submit details of all students that will be impacted by the ceasing of VET FEE-HELP operations to the Department of Education and Training, with confirmation that all students have been contacted and assisted by a tuition assurance operator, and the details of any placements organised.

Providers who are ceasing VFH operations will also be required to upload VET FEE-HELP extensions data into the eCAF system for any students who may be eligible to apply to extend access to VET FEE-HELP in 2018. Providers will need to confirm they have completed this process.

Once all student matters are finalised, and any outstanding payment matters and data is reported, the revocation of VETFEEHELP approval process can be initiated.

Under tuition assurance arrangements continuing grandfathered students can move to a new provider (with all requirements being met).
