Ceapmidterm Election 2014

CEAPMidterm Election 2014

Its election time again! Although this is not a presidential election year, voters across the country will still be going to the polls on November 4 to elect governors, senators and representatives. This gives us a great opportunity to have an election project!

For this project, we will focus on six to eight Senate and governor’s races which I hope will be interesting races to watch. You are now a proud member of one of the candidate’s election teams. As we know, one of the biggest jobs for the team is to promote the candidate through advertising. In this role, you will create a few advertisements for your candidate.

As in the real campaign, you will create different types of ads, which are listed below. You can choose the type of ad that best goes with the information you need to present. (For example, you can create a TV ad & a radio ad for the positions on issues and the mailing could be about the candidate’s personal background) We will look at examples of campaign advertising to give you some ideas for your ads.

We may spend some time in the computer lab to assist you in your research, but much of the work will have to be on your own time. A few days before the November election, you will present one of these ads. As we watch the ads, you will be writing down your thoughts, and after the presentations, we will “vote” in those elections. After the November election, you will assess how your candidate did and why the election turned out the way it did.

On the back of this sheet, you will find the content and types of ads, due dates, helpful websites, a list of what you owe me and your assignments. If you have questions along the way, please do not hesitate to ask me. Good luck, have fun, and may your candidate find success!
