Include pertinent details regarding the event as well as who you spoke with, what you spoke about, and what you found useful or not. If there is a presentation, include pertinent details about the presentation and what you found useful or interesting or not. Make sure to sign your memo and include at least one business card. Re: Professional meeting attendance for extra credit

On January 1, I attended the monthly meeting of the St. Clair Chapter of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers at Rusty’s Restaurant in Edwardsville. I spoke with Mr. Zeyn Uzman, P.E., the President of the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers, regarding his career and his choice to become president of a professional society. I also spoke with Dr. Steve Hanna, P.E., a retired engineer, about his career choices and the continuing education requirement in place for professional engineers. I found their advice regarding choosing a career path useful as I am currently pursuing engineering employment.

The speaker at the meeting was Mr. N. C. Vasuki, P.E., DEE, who is the CEO of the Delaware Solid Waste Authority. He spoke about engineering involvement in municipal solid waste management. The main topics he covered were solid waste generation in the U.S. and the design of sanitary landfills. I found his personal antidotes made the presentation interesting, even though I had given little thought previously to what happened after trash was removed.

Attached is Mr. Uzman’s business card. Dr. Hanna did not have a business card. Please return Mr. Uzman’s card.
