Annual Summary of Eleven- and Twelve-Year-Old Children in Early Education and Support Division Child Care Programs

Section IV Total Estimated Savings

Education Code Section 8263.4 (g) requires child development contractors to report annually to the Early Education and Support Division the dollar amount that would have been spent on eleven- and twelve-year-old children who transferred from subsidized child care for all or part of the day to go to a before or after school program.

To calculate the dollar amounts that would have been spent, contractors will need to identify the total number of children and the total monthly payments made to the provider or total adjusted child days of enrollment for each of the children who leave the programs for all or part of their child care needs.

Contractors need to estimate the monthly dollar amount that was not paid to a provider or the estimated monthly amount not earned through child days of enrollment. The monthly per child amount that would have been paid based on the full month after the date that the child left subsidized child care is multiplied by the number of month left in the fiscal year to determine the estimated savings.

Sample Worksheet

Number of Children / Monthly Payment Per Child / Number of Months Left in Year / Estimated Savings
2 / $100 / 3 / $ 600
1 / 200 / 1 / 200
3 / 250 / 4 / 3,000
Total Estimated Savings / $3,800
