-  Gender neutral bathrooms / Julie reported attending the Academic Advisory Committee meeting held on 10-30-2016. Topics that were discussed were the WP and WF grading. Dean Woodberry had reported, at this meeting, that it was put on hold until a new VP for Academic Affairs is appointed. The other topic discussed was the progression of academic placement based on multiple assessments. (Acuplacer, SAT scores High school rank)
New student orientation is January. Tutor sign-up will be closed until next semester. They had 6000 appointments made, 3000 were no shows and so cancellations, even with text reminders. Was able to see 300-400 students.
There is a New student handbook.
Public Safety College Policy will be taken to the Presidents council to get voted on. They are discussing safe zone training and bystander training. Title 9 for student leaders. Sexual assault Harassment discrimination issues. To add 20-30 minutes into new student orientation.
Two years ago physical plant made the original decision on which bathrooms would be designated as gender neutral. They will need to be revised it since some are not handicapped accessible.
Nancy Forstrom has a program for gender equity. The program focuses on three primary areas.
1. LGBT community
2. Sexual assault prevention and domestic violence
3. Traditional women gender issues.
Questions:
A few questions were posed by Maryann Swanbeck.
1.  Who is enforcing smoking vapor cigarettes where they have been designated?
2.  Is there anything prohibiting students from videotaping themselves chasing the geese? / Michael Cunningham stated that there is a vaping college policy in the handbook and that security would be the ones to enforce it. Student government can educate students about the policy but can’t enforce it on their own and should call security if they needed to.
No geese policy and no animal policy. Joanne Galliano stated that if there are any wild life injuries the campus police could contact the DEM.
