Qualifications and Background of delivering Trainer: / Dorcas Réamonn has a Master’s Degree in E–Commerce, is the owner of Zonua, website developers, and is Director of E-training for Talentpool Ltd. She develops websites and is an expert in all aspects of how websites work. Dorcas has been facilitating Social Media and SEO training programmes as a standalone module or as part of a larger module to numerous enterprise support organisations.
Course Objectives & Outline Syllabus: / This course aims to introduce participants to the skills needed to develop a low-cost web presence. The course will begin with an introduction to web design and Search Engine Optimisation, to ensure you get these basics right from the start. Participants will be invited to build their own website on their own domain*. This hands-on course will focus on the practical side of designing a small business website from scratch.

*Domain and hosting can be purchased at cost to participants, with guidance from the tutor on the first day of course. While participants are strongly encouraged to make a real website for their business, there is an option to make a website on a temporary domain and hosting provided by the tutor for the duration of the course. WordPress itself is free.
The Course Content will vary slightly based on participant level and feedback.
Day 1 (Mostly Theory):
1. Introduction to SEO:
a. Picking Your Search Terms
b. SEO on Your Website
2. Principles of Web Design: Usability and Accessibility are vital aspects to any website. Getting these aspects right will enhance user experience – thus increasing visitor stickiness and conversions
3. Web Design and Hosting: If you want a website, you need a domain and hosting.
Day 2 (Mostly Hands On):
1. What is WordPress/Introduction to WordPress
2. What are Themes/Introduction to Themes
3. How to Pick a Theme
4. Creating a Menu
5. Creating Pages
6. What are Plugins/Introduction to Plugins
7. Image Editing
Day 3 (Mostly Hands On):
1. Video Integration
2. Theme Customisation
3. Image/Media Uploading
4. SEO in WordPress
5. Adding functionality with WordPress
Day 4 (Mostly Hands On):
1. Recap
2. Back-up of Your Website
3. Social Media Integration
4. Additional Questions that any participants may have
Training Methodology: / - The programme will utilise a variety of Power point slides,
- Day one is mostly theoretical, day 2-4 are mostly practical exercises
- Student handbooks and background material if appropriate
- Examples to encourage participants’ involvement and interaction.
A combination of group and individual exercises will be used to keep participants engaged whilst imparting the practical knowledge and understanding of topics covered.
Participant Profile: / Good computer skills, participants should be used to the internet, comfortable with uploading files and have familiarity with online transactions
Owner-managers or accounts staff of established businesses which are based in Co. Wicklow & currently employ less than 10 people
