Division of Health Promotion (410-996-5168)
The Division of Health Promotion interacts with the community (ADD THIS WORD) by providing health education, (ADD THIS )coordinator of special programs and outreach programs. Registered nurses, health educators, prevention specialist and outreach workers educate and encourage CecilCounty residents to practice behavioral changes that prevent disease and help promote healthy lifestyles. Preschoolers to senior citizens enjoy an extensive range of services and programs including nutrition education, HIV/AIDS prevention, blood pressure screenings, injury prevention, dental sealant program, referrals, and follow up for childhood immunizations, colorectal, breast and cervical cancer screening outreach,(DELETE THIS WORD)) and free stop smoking (ADD THIS) programs andnicotine patch programs. At-Risk Programs include Safe Kids Summer Camp, after school homework clubs, Abstinence Only Program and Drug Prevention programs for juvenile offenders. Highway safety programs are comprised of mini-grants that fund enforcement and education activities addressing occupant protection, impaired driving, distracted and aggressive driving. Mini-grants are also available to community groups in the area for tobacco use prevention. Staff assist the Accident, Cancer and Tobacco Task Forces to develop and implement community action plans to address injury issues, and colorectal cancer and tobacco use prevention. Staff provides information and educational materials on health topics upon request from the community.
