CCEE Plenary Assembly

Principality of Monaco, October 6-9, 2016

The Plenary Assembly of the Council of European Catholic Bishops' Conferences (CCEE) will take place this year from the 6th to the 9th of October in the Principality of Monaco at the invitation of H. Ex. Msgr. Bernard Barsi, Archbishop of Monaco.

The Assembly, behind closed doors, shall provide opportunities for discussion and reflection on the challenges facing Europe today, the mission of the Church, and the service offered by the CCEE, which in 2016 celebrates its 45th anniversary. The Plenary’s program also includes a report of the Observatory on Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians in Europe, the challenges of the Church in the other continents, and dialogue with the Orthodox Church.

During the meeting, the Presidents of the Bishops' Conferences in Europe will meet HisSerene Highness Prince Albert II and other local authorities.

On the occasion of the Plenary Assembly, the Presidents of the Catholic Bishops’ Conferences in Europe, members of CCEE, will proceed to the election of the new CCEE Presidency for the five-year period 2016-2021.

All Presidents of the Bishops' Conferences currently in office are eligible for election as President or as one of the two Vice-Presidents.At the same time, members of the CCEE-CEC (Conference of European Churches) Joint Committee, and the CCEE-SECAM (Symposium of Catholic Bishops’ Conferences of Africa and Madagascar) Commission will be elected.

TECHNICAL NOTES FOR MEDIA OPERATORS

1. Venue

Novotel Monte Carlo, 16 Bld Princesse Charlotte - Monaco

A press room with free WIFI connection, will be staged in the same hotel in the days of the meeting. The access will be reserved exclusively for accredited journalists holding a valid personal ID.

2. Access to the meeting

Working sessions will be behind closed doors. Any moments open to journalists will be announced later. Interviews (during breaks) and filming can be arranged with the media officer of the CCEE. A series of briefings and press points will be organized during the work, mainly in Italian. No simultaneous translation will be provided.

3. Accreditation of journalists

Journalists who wish to cover the event are requested to fill in the accreditation form available at this address no later than October 4:

Journalists who do not live in Monaco are asked to get organized on their own for their board and lodging.

We recommend the following hotel which is not far from the meeting venue and the main railway station of Monaco: Aparthotel Adagio Monaco Monte Cristo, 2A Rue des Martyrs de la Résistance, 06240 Beausoleil (200 meters - 3 minutes walk)

4. Materials available to journalists (program, list of participants ...) will be available in the "Plenary" page of the calendar on the website of the CCEE, and will be sent in due course to accredited journalists.
