Materials

You will need paper, graph paper, colored pen, highlighter, pencils/erasers, dry erase markers, compass, straightedge, protractor and a non-CAS calculator (preferably a TI-84 Plus). You should always bring paper, pencils, your binder, and a calculator to class each day. Colored pencils, markers, glue sticks, and scissorsare also great tools to have. Ask me if you have questions about calculators or show it to me before you open the package.

Tests:

The Math Department testing days are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. We will have many tests throughout the semester. If you miss a test, you have the same number of days you missed class to make it up with me. Tests may be made up during the scheduled Math Department make – up sessions (Tuesday Mornings and Thursday afternoons) in a location TBA or by appointment. The only exception to this policy is that if you miss only the day of the test, you will be expected to take it the next day during your lunch period or after school.

Quizzes:

Quizzes can be given on any day of the week and will be given throughout the semester. If you miss a quiz, you have the same number of days you missed class to make-up the assessment. Again, if you only miss the day of a quiz, you will be expected to make it up the next day during your lunch period or after school

Make-Up Work

Attendance is an extremely important part of this class. Your success depends on being in class every day. If you are absent it is your responsibility to get the notes and assignments that are missed. Please check the class blog to find out what we covered in class and any assignments that may have been given. If you are absent, you have one day for each day of excused absence plus one more day to make up the work. If you are absent on the review day before a test/quiz and return on the day of the test/quiz you will be expected to take the test/quiz asscheduled.

One-MinuteQuestions: Each day as you come into class, you are to pick up a slip of paper. Upon hearing the bell, I will turn on the overhead projector and there will be a question on it. You are to write the correct answer on your slip of paper and hand it to me. If you get the correct answer in the first minute, you will receive 2 points. If you get the correct answer in the second minute, you will receive 1 point. At the end of the semester, these points will be totaled for a major test grade. Point values are doubled on Friday.

Mid-Term & Final Exam:

There will be a Midterm, and a Final Exam given at the end of the semester. The Final Exam will be a multiple-

choice, cumulative test that covers all material from the semester.

EOC (Georgia Milestones)

GSE Geometry has a state–mandated end of course test which counts as 20% of your spring semester grade. Your score will appear on your transcript.

Homework:

Homework will be given and checked often. Assignments will be checked using a variety ofmethods forboth completion and accuracy. You should always show your work and clearly state youranswer.
