It is with pleasure that I write to formally offer you a Postdoctoral Fellow position in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Minnesota. This offer is contingent upon verification of your doctoral degree. Details of the offer are listed below.

Position. Your position is classified as a Postdoctoral Associate, class #9546, with a starting date of XXX. This is a professional training position normally limited to a maximum of three years. The position appointment is for the period from XXX to XXX. Continuous employment is contingent on annual renewal and is based on satisfactory performance, mutual agreement, and the availability of funding.

Salary. Your starting salary will be $XXX for a 100% time, twelve-month appointment. In addition to your base salary, you are entitled to fringe benefits that cover medical, dental and life insurance. Health insurance coverage will begin on the first day of the month following the first day of employment (e.g., on Sept. 1 if you begin any day in August). You are also eligible to participate in optional programs through the University of Minnesota’s Employee Benefits department. Duties. You will report directly to me. Your responsibilities will be XXX. The position also involves training other students and postdocs on these techniques, maintaining the XXX equipment and taking a leadership role in the group to help guide projects, manage researchers, as well as the preparation and submission of manuscripts and grant proposals. As noted above, your performance will be reviewed annually.
