Minutes from January 2016 meeting were moved as posted on website and passed unanimously
Treasurer Keri Gill-Smith reported current district assets approx $12,000
Director Jill Taylor reported on Chapter business, including update on new office, current membership and recruitment efforts. Jill also later reported she contacted Kelly at Chapter office regarding concern brought at January meeting re CDPHP using PT benefit for chiropractic care. Kelly had contacted CDPHP and they removed link from website. John Quinn expressed concern re the chiropractors using PT codes; Jill will follow up again with chapter.
Update on April 23 and 24th APTA CI course to be held at Marist. Tylene reports the class is full at 30 registrants. We have 2 vendors to help offset cost of meals at the course. Marist will cover the remainder. Discussion re a questionnaire for both Marist (cosponsor) and the district re future Cont Ed interest ; interest in vendors to have at other events. Committee will continue to work on final details (Julie Fineman. Keri Gill-Smith, Yvonne Egitto, Claudia Fenderson and Tylene Lizardi)
District Board gave an overview of Delegate Assembly to the members, invited all to attend as a guest. Jill gave out a handout on the chapter structure and operations and jobs of the various offices
Claudia Fenderson our Legislative Liaison gave an update on Lobby Day will be held May 10th in Albany. Also continued emphasis on Local Lobby Day meeting with legislators in their home office
Plan is for a Fall 2016 Continuing Ed Course. Several ideas were offered. A committee was formed to work on this at last meeting. Cathy Rubsam will contact David Malant re Vestibular course; Member Melanie Burns is a Certified KinesioTape Instructor- one concern for fall was interference with Chapter Rock Tape courses so may consider this for Spring 2017?; John Quinn had several ideas including Maitland, Peds course Medekcuevas- he will make initial contacts for these. We discussed that the Chair is the one to enter into contracts for the district, need to discuss all fees, room and board, travel and honorarium. Committee will continue to work on this
Keri brought up concerns with the bylaws being out of date. She had contacted the Judicial Reference Committee re the process of changing them. We need to determine changes, have them review. Have district vote, and then Chapter BOD gives final approval. Keri passed out copies of bylaws (also posted on our website). She had several suggestions but wanted to form a committee to propose changes. A committee chaired by Keri was formed composed of Yvonne, Tylene; Larry Flowers; Claudia).
Tylene questioned whether everyone was getting emails. Several people reported they were not. She will bring up at the Chair meeting possibility of having a catskill district @nypta email address that could be used by the district. Emails from Tylene through the website keep appearing in junk email for many members.
Discussion of community event to promote PT or PT Month was discussed. Yvonne mentioned coordination with Walkway over the Hudson others mentioned home show at Gold’s gym; Golden Gathering.
The idea of creating a District Logo was discussed. All agreed this would be a good idea, if cost was reasonable.
Julie Fineman agreed to work on a Facebook page for the district in coordination with the following.
A committee was formed to work on the community event/ PR/ Marketing as discussed. John Quinn will chair, Julie Fineman, Larry Flowers, Jeff Goldman, Tylene Lizardi.
Elections were held. Elected as Treasurer Keri Gill-Smith; Chapter Director Jill Taylor.
