Chapter 33
Cathy is Bored
- Cathy found interest in criticizing Hareton
- Cathy then tried to be mild with Hareton
- Cathy gave him a book
- HC tried to be on his own most of the time
- Hareton refused to talk to Cathy out of dignity & pride
- Reconciliation
Chapter 34
Two or Three Bushes
- Problem = Both Cathy & Hareton exchanged some plants with others from the Grange
- Joseph complained
- HC reacted roughly
- Cathy accused HC of taking her land and Hareton's
- " You must learn to avoid putting me in fury ---As to Hareton if I see him listen to you , I'll send him to earn his living where he can get it –"
Chapter 35
A Poor Ending to My Struggles
- Hareton clarified to Cathy that he couldn't turn against HC as he was the only one who raised him up
- " It's a poor ending! I turn all my energies for the destruction of the two families---the will to act disappeared"
- " He affects me differently --- Hareton seemed a living picture of my youth"
- Nelly doubted HC is facing death
Chapter36
The Change Comes
- Nelly noticed that HC lost appetite for everything
- HC murmured Catherine's name
- HC wanted to send for Mr Green to write his will
- Nelly advised him to try to be more religious & ask for a priest, but he refused
Chapter 37
The End of HC
- HC strangely half joked with Cathy
- Hareton fetched the doctor
- They entered & found HC dead
Chapter 38
The DEAD are at Peace
- Both Cathy & Hareton were more calm & free
- All were DEAD
