CAT Enterprise Update 1.1

The CAT Enterprise Development team is continually working towards meeting the needs of our clients. Update 1.1 includes several new features to improve the functionality and efficiency of CAT Enterprise.

Historical Comparison for the Competency Inventory

A new button, Historical Comparison, has been added to the Competency Inventory page and is accessible to Participants and all management roles. This allows a person to view a side-by-side graphical view of his/her own or another person’s Position on two selectable dates.

The Historical Comparison button is located in the header on the Competency Inventory page:

Dashboard Graphical Improvements

The Participant Assessment, Supervisor Assessment, and Development Status charts that appear on a person’s home screen have been redesigned. While maintaining the main layout, data, and assessment color scheme, a background has been added to each chart, as well as some slight design changes for easier readability.

Dashboard Tailoring

A System Owner now has the option of displaying or not displaying the Supervisor Chart and/or the Development Status Chart on the home screen. This is a site setting that affects the home page of all people that have been assigned a position, as well as anyone with a management role looking at a person’s home screen.

These two options are found under “Look & Feel” in the Site Configuration Editor and can be easily turned on and off by choosing a value of “Yes” or “No.”

In the image below, both the Development Status Chart and Supervisor Chart have been set to not be displayed. The Participant Assessment Chart, therefore, is the only chart shown.

Competency Map Update

An Administrator or System Owner now has the ability to update PetroSkills Competency Maps by uploading an XML file, which works much like the Development Activity Update. This feature can also be used to quickly create new Maps just as you would in your Competency Map tree.

This new feature is accessed on the first page of the Map Administration section. The file that contains your Competency Map information is chosen by clicking the Browse button; where your Map is placed is indicated by choosing a Sub Classifier from the Competency Map Sub Classifier dropdown menu.

The next three dropdown menus allow you to change the assessment status of the Skill Descriptions in your Map. In your XML file, each Skill Description is set to having either a minor change, a major change, or the change may not be indicated (unexpected). You can see the four options the Skill Descriptions can be changed to in the image below.

Once you’ve made all your selections, clicking on the Upload XML button opens the next Map Update page, which displays information for you to review about your Competency Map update.

  • The Warnings section indicates any Development Activities associated with your Maps that did not already exist in the system.
  • The Information section indicates Maps that have been affected by your update.
  • Listed under Information are the Maps pending for updates. Here, you can see what type of change was indicated for each Skill Description on the previous page, and you can override a change on a single Skill Description by using the dropdown menu. Each type of change is easily distinguishable with a colour coded background. And as you can see in the image below, the changes are divided, indicating the old Skill Description, the change type, and the new Skill Description.

When you have reviewed all information and changes, the Competency Map Update is completed by clicking the Map Sync button. Your changes or new Maps will now be updated in the system.

Crystal Report Summary Page

The summary page, which lists the selection criteria, has been reformatted to improve readability for any report viewed in the Crystal Reports Viewer. The data is now viewed with more white space and includes clear headings with tabbed subheadings (as shown in the example below).
