June has been a warm and relatively dry month allowing members to play as many Bowls matches as they wanted.

Unfortunately, we find ourselves relying upon the same people to compete in our tourist matches and with some large parties arriving, starting with 12 mixed rinks from Cardiff B C on the 1st July, we need more members to sign up for selection. The files to sign in are in the Clubhouse. Please remember that we rely upon these matches to generate income for the Club. Thank you.

Events for July

Captains’ Day is Sunday 23rd and is always a well supported event with free refreshments supplied by your Captains, Daphne Cocker and Stan Willcocks. You might be asked for a charity contribution though. Look out for the sign up notice.

Sunday 16th of July is the new date for the Club MuftiFun Day of Bowls. There will be various challenges and games to play. It will run from 11am until 3pm and you can come along at any time and leave when you want to. Absolutely NO bowls attire, whites or greys, apart from your Bowls shoes. Dress, “no not a dress Graham”, should be

casual and perhaps colourful would be a good idea too!

Competitions

Mens’ 2 Wood Club Pairs

This year the Mens’ 2-wood Pairs early rounds were held on Saturday 10th June when the semi-finalists were decided.

The resulting semi-finals are:-

Paul Sooben & Graham Heaven play Rob Walker & Brian Thomas

John Sayer & Derek Conbeer play Harvey Metcalf & Mick Cox

MDL Triples

Most League and County Competitions are still in their primary stages but in the mens MDL Triples Tony Berry, Bob Dunn and John Sayers await their quarter-final opponents. Well done.

Ladies Club 4-Wood Pairs

On Saturday the 24th June the Ladies held their 4-Wood Competition.

As a result of the Competition the successful Pairs going into the final are:-

Molly Thorp and Jenny Corps

Versus

Val Lethbridge and Marilyn Symons

Well done both Pairs.

Caption Competition

Entries have been flooding in (not) so I would like to extend the time for you to enter this competition.

Last chance (maybe next month too!!) to win a bottle of wine of your colour choice.

Submit an appropriate caption for one, two or three of the photos opposite and you may be judged a winner. (You may be the only entrant so chances are high)

I have actually received some entries which are pretty good ( Thanks Graham) but not unbeatable.
