Job purpose

/

Oversee the operational delivery of Compass Support Services for Young People and Employment Support Services. Responsible for income generation, supporting business development, team management

Working environment

/ Predominantly based at The Sanctuary with requirement to travel within Birmingham and surrounding areas.

KEY TASKS AND OUTCOMES

Customer focus

Oversee the operational delivery of the service to ensure that it meets the identified needs of customers.

To develop initiatives in response to the needs of communities.

Ensures that teams provides responsive, high quality services and constantly seeks opportunities to improve and develop services.

Monitors customer experience and uses data to ensure continuous improvement

Working with others internally & externally

Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders including statutory and voluntary sector organisations.

Represent Compass Support at networking events and conferences.

Working with internal teams to develop services that are responsive to the needs of communities and organisational priorities.

Work as part of a team, attending team meetings and team briefing as required.

Managing Services

Recruit and manage a staff team to deliver:

-Youth Services comprising:

  • Universal, open access community based provision
  • Targeted mentoring

-Employment Support Services comprising:

  • Community based support services
  • Targeted employment projects
  • Careers Advice Service

Responsible for generating funding income, managing contracts and ensuring contract compliance.

Responsible for the development and delivery of a Business Unit Plan

Lead and develop staff team.

Undertakes regular one-to-one supervision and performance reviews with team members.

Implement Human Resources policies and procedures.

Identify training needs and implement as required.

Developing new services

Supporting business development in partnership with Head of Operations and Community Regeneration Director including:

-Competitive tendering

-Developing projects and seeking the ‘buy-in’ of key partners

-Securing traded services

Works with key partners to identify opportunities for collaboration, developing new services to meet identified needs.

Managing and Developing self

Ability to work independently, manage own workload and meet self-imposed targets.

Actively participates in regular one-to-one supervision with line manager as part of the Performance Review scheme.

Undertakes learning and development activities, including attending training events

Takes responsibility for their own workload and work area

Financial Management and Control

Take responsibility for financial management of service area including:

-Following financial regulations

-Budget management

-Meets reporting requirements in line with funding contracts

Administration IT and data Management

Use specialist software packages and case management systems to input data, keep records and generate reports.

Word-process a range of documents including letters, reports etc.

Use appropriate communication methods including email, phone and face-to-face.

Maintain accurate paper and computer based records in own work area using IT hardware and software for work purposes.

Provide information for monitoring and evaluation purposes

To use monitoring systems to evaluate the service as requested, recording ‘service-user progression’.

Legal and Regulatory Compliance

Work within policies and procedures, the law, best practice, and Regulatory Frameworks relevant to the role.

Work within the Charities Commission regulations.

Work within contract/funding specifications.

Other

There will be a requirement for flexible working hours to ensure our delivery meets service requirements.
