New Business:
School Updates:
Mrs. Letitia Ingram-Phillips, the principal spoke about Castle Hill Elementary being a “C” school and how reading and language arts is still an area of improvement. Mrs. Phillips discussed with the parents and community members about how we can do better and how her and Dr. Gentles (Interning Principal) are strategic about assisting the teachers to perform well as teachers in the classrooms
Mrs. Phillips discussed that academic tutoring will come later in the year with the support coming from Title I funds.
Mrs. Phillips told the parents that Castle Hill made learning gains in Reading and the school was removed from the Lowest 300 list, which is why the extended hour was dropped and school resumed to the regular schedule of 8:00-2:00.
Mrs. Phillips told the parents that they are so important to our school community and she wants them to continue to support their children
Enhancement Funds:
With the $100,000 we received to enhance our school, your votes were put into action
Murals have been added to our cafeteria, the long hallway, the media center, and by the front office
A new sound system has been purchased
The new digital marquee will be coming soon and is in the works as of now
Equipment for the Morning Broadcasting Room will be coming soon and is part of career & college readiness and public speaking
Student and teacher furniture will be coming soon
Announcements:
Dr. Timmons (Literacy Coach) spoke about Literacy Night and how exciting and wonderful it will be for parents, students, and the community
The book fair is from November 6-14, 2017 and funds earned goes back into the school
There will be no school on November 10, 2017
School Pictures Retakes will take place on November 15th
Interim Reports for the second quarter go home on November 20, 2017 but Report cards go home on November 28th for the first quarter due to the hurricane
Thanksgiving Break will be from November 22-24th, 2017

The SIP includes yearly goals and objectives as well as activities that must be implemented at the school. District Parent Involvement Plan: District staff and parents collaboratively develop this plan. The plan includes the parent activities to be implemented throughout the school year and an evaluation of last year’s district parent program.
