"Diversity Hiring” is a video project (a set of narrative video scenes) to accompany a training workshop to be released in late fall of 2011. The workshop will address higher education professionals need to establish effective diversity hiring procedures for new faculty. The training is a project of the Office for the Promotion of Women in Science, Engineering & Math at Rutgers University. Each of the scripted video scenes will be performed by 5 to 6actors under the direction of [insert] with a professional crew and set(s). Actors will be paid for their performance days.
There are 3 scripts (one “right” and one “wrong” way of resolving the same scenario). Actors auditioning should be prepared and able to deliver each scenario accurately. Performers should alsobe familiar with multi-camera shoots.A script will be provided to prepare for the audition.
We are looking for“faculty types” (30yrs to 55yrs).
Please dress appropriately based on your character’s role (see below).
CHARACTERS:
Eddie:Male, English speaking, bus driver who interacts with a customer who does not speak or understand English well.
Fang: Female bus rider whose primary language is Chinese and who does not speak or understand English well. Written and spoken Fluency in Mandarin and English are essential for this role.
Customer service agent: Female, English speaking, customer service agent who answers Fang’s phone call for directions in English.
Translator:Male or female translator who translates between Fang and customer service agent by phone. Written and spoken Fluency in Mandarin and English are essential for this role.
