Case manager - Career Counselor

We are looking for a motivated and experienced individual to fill the Case Manager – Career Counselor position. This position provides a comprehensive, coordinated structure for management of the complex sets of services juvenile offenders must navigate. Case Manager – Career Counselor develop a deep understanding of the individual, which enables continuity for the participant. In addition, the Case Manager – Career Counselor assists community supervision officers in serving youthful offenders returning to the community, as well as serving as an advocate, resource and mentor for program participants.

This position will report to the Program Manager and work closely with collaborating agencies to coordinate services.

  • Minimum of two years experience in counseling or mentoring, preferably with youth participants or heavily barriered individuals.
  • Ability to pass a background check for entry onto Federal, State and Local Juvenile Justice Facilities
  • Principles and practices of counseling/mentoring, including case management
  • Gang intervention or criminal justice experience strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of local community based organizations and the resources they provide in and around Los Angeles City and County areas
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office Professional Suite
  • Career counseling, human resource, substance abuse counseling, or teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • Individuals with any of the following educational background to apply: Masters in Counseling, Education, Public Administration, and in Education, MSW, MFT, or equivalent experiences
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are imperative
  • Empathy for barriered youth is imperative
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English is a plus
