(If the proposed project is likely to generate data that is relevant to other researchers, applicants are asked to identify these data and to describe how these data could be stored in order to be accessible for reuse by answering the questions below. If a proposal is awarded funding, the researcher is asked to provide a detailed data management plan, which is a condition for funding.
NWO understands ‘data’ to be both collected, unprocessed data as well as analysed data. The definition is broad. Data can be digital and non-digital (for example samples, completed questionnaires, sound recordings, etc.). The information in this paragraph will not be included in the funding decision. NWO does sendthe data management paragraph to the committee and referees for advice. Applicants who receive a grant can use this advice to expand their data management paragraph into a data management plan.

Please see for more information)

1. Will data be collected or generated that are suitable for reuse?

Yes: Then answer questions 2 to 4

No: Then explain why the research will not result in reusable data or in data that cannot be stored or data that for other reasons are not relevant for reuse

2. Where will the data be stored during the research?

3. After the project has been completed, how will the data be stored for the long-term and made available for the use by third parties? To whom will the data be accessible?

4. Which facilities (ICT, (secure) archive, refrigerators or legal expertise) do you expect will be needed for the storage of data during the research and after the research? Are these available?
