OFFICIAL APPLICATION FOR

CAROLINE COUNTY LIVESTOCK AUCTION SCHOLARSHIP

  1. 4-H/FFA scholarships will be presented to county 4-H/FFA members graduating/graduates planning to further their education. This scholarship is made available from funds earned through the Livestock Auction at the Caroline County Fair.
  1. The scholarship(s) will be announced during the graduation ceremony of the school that the winners are graduating from. The winners will also be announced at the Caroline County Livestock auction at the County Fair.
  1. Applications are to be mailed – postmarked on or before Tuesday, May 2, 2017, to the University of Maryland Extension Office, c/o Auction Committee, 9194 Legion Road, Suite 4, Denton, MD 21629. Scholarships will be awarded on basis of completed applications only; there will be no personal interviews. Incomplete applications will be disqualified.
  1. Applicants must have completed three years of 4-H/FFA membership. The applicant must have completed a full year of club/chapter work in CarolineCounty for the 2016enrollment year (college students: applicants last year of 4-H/FFA membership must have been in CarolineCounty). The other two membership years must have been with any recognized county/city 4-H Program or FFA Chapter.
  1. Applicants do not have to be enrolled in the College of Home Economics or Agriculture; however, applicant must plan to attend a bonafide institution of higher education, college, trade school, etc.
  1. An individual can only receive the scholarship once.
  1. Preference will be given to high school seniors who carried Livestock Projects. The scholarship will be open for application by college students who are former Caroline County 4-H/FFA members.
  1. Scholarship monies will be awarded when the college verifies that student is enrolled. A check will be sent to the college, trade school, etc., in time for final fees. Scholarships can be used for tuition or dispersed through college as cash.
  1. Two letters of reference must accompany application: one from 4-H leader (FFA teacher) and one from a teacher.
  1. Selection will be made by the Scholarship Selection Committee.
  1. A member of the Auction Committee may have a child applying for the scholarship, but are not allowed to be a member of Scholarship Selection Committee.
  1. The Auction Scholarship Committee has moniesavailable for scholarship awards for 2017.
