Carol (Weller) Frieser
June 12, 1944 – June 18, 2007
Other than their children, what would she be most proud of?
She developed and managed the gourmet food and catering part of the business she ran with her husband – The Grapevine in Plantation, FL. She was extremely proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
What would be her greatest regret?
She had no control over this, but she would regret not being around to meet the grandchildren that were born after she died.
What would be her most treasured memories?
Watching her children and grandchildren grow up…listening to the stories of her grandchildren, and the times she spent with her grandparents when she was a kid. Passover Seders with the whole family around, or family trips when all of her children and grandchildren were together.
What would be her most treasured values? (I.e. what would she be willing to speak up for or against within the family, the country, or in other situations?)
Carol was a staunch supporter of Russian Refuseniks…she valued life, and supported countless women with cancer by encouraging them to keep up the hope that they would beat the cancer. She loved Israel. She valued education, and made many sacrifices to provide her children with the best education available.
What people or events most shaped who she was? How?
Carol married when she was 19 years old after dating her husband Paul since the age of 15. Marrying young and having children early impacted all her life choices from that moment forward.
Her mother’s involvement in Hadassah and other Jewish causes really influenced Carol’s involvement and commitment to the Jewish community.
What would she personally want to see carried on in the family (maybe after the answer of religion)?
Family Passover Seders, family get-togethers, wild family celebrations at all of the weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs to come.
What qualities did she embody? (e.g., tenacity, wisdom, humor, outspokenness, …)
She was a natural salesperson, she was very creative, sentimental and was great with children. She was optimistic and had a never-say-die attitude.
She was outgoing and friendly and remembered everyone she ever met.
What would you have guessed would have been her secret ambition, hope, or dream?
For her children to all get along wonderfully with each other
After survival, financial security and health, what is the one thing that would have made her really happy?
Family was the most important thing to Carol, so the happiness of her family was primary, but then after that, her focus was on having a successful business.
What in the world of politics bothered her most?
