Rules for entry

1.  The competition is open to all secondary school pupils between the ages of 11 and 16 and is free to enter. Pupils do not need to be visually impaired themselves in order to enter.

2.  To enter, pupils must answer in one sentence the following question: What do you love about your school library? Pupils can work on this answer individually or in groups of no larger than one full year group.

3.  Pupils’ entries must be submitted using the competition entry form, downloadable from the RNIB website, and either emailed to or posted to RNIB Library, Bakewell Road, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE2 6XU.

4.  The deadline for entries is Friday 10 July 2015. No entries will be accepted after this date.

5.  Five winners and ten runners up will be selected. The five winning pupils will receive a set of this year’s Carnegie Medal shortlist in both Braille and Giant print for their school library. The ten runners up will receive a set of last year’s Carnegie Medal shortlist in Giant print for their school library.

6.  Up to one winner and one runner-up will be chosen per school.

7.  Entries will be judged by the RNIB Library. The judges’ decision is final.

8.  The winners and runners up will be announced by Friday 17 July 2015. A list of prize winners can be obtained from August 2015 by sending a SAE to RNIB Library, Bakewell Road, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE2 6XU.

9.  By entering the competition, you accept that RNIB may use your school name and details of the prize in any publicity.

10.  Teachers must provide pupils’ names (unless an entry is submitted by a group of more than two pupils) in order to enter them into the competition. These names will only be used to administer the competition, and will be destroyed in September 2015 unless express permission is granted by a pupil’s parent/guardian for a pupil’s name to be used in publicity.

11.  Teachers must provide their own contact details in order to enter the competition on behalf of their pupils. Teachers will be given the option to opt-out of receiving further information , not related to the competition, from RNIB.

12.  RNIB reserve the right to modify, amend, cancel or suspend these terms and conditions at any time if they deem it necessary or if circumstances arise beyond their control.

13.  RNIB reserve the right to disqualify from this competition any entrant who they believe has not complied with these terms and conditions or acted in good faith.
