Welcome to Carly’s Home Daycare!

Thank you for choosing Carly’s Home Daycare as the “home away from home” for your child to be cared for. I have put the following policies in place and expect all families in my care to follow them. In doing so, this will create an open door for communication and clear expectations for all involved. Please feel free to express any needs, wants or concerns regarding your child.

My goal is to provide a safe, loving, stimulating and enriching environment for children ages one month to four years old. I provide a large dedicated room for learning, play and age appropriate activities, and a smaller room for quiet play and napping. I provide a fenced in outdoor play area with structures to climb, push toys, sand area, water table, ride on toys, and an art area. I believe that children learn through play and interacting with others and giving the children opportunities to grow, explore and learn at their own pace.

I look forward to caring for your child!

Vacations

Provider allots two weeks of vacation per year. Provider will post the dates at least three months in advance. It will be the parent’s responsibility to arrange daycare during that time. Regular payment applies for provider’s vacation, weeks with holidays, provider’s sick/personal days and your vacations.

Sick/Personal days

I have a strong immune system, but occasionally I get sick. I allot five paid sick/personal days a year. I use these days also for continuing education (CPR, first aid, etc). I will give you as much advance notice as possible.

Deposit

A nonrefundable deposit equal to two weeks of daycare costs is due at the time of enrollment. Your child’s spot is not secure until both the signed contract and deposit are received. The deposit will be applied to the last two weeks of enrollment. Please make checks payable to Carly’s Home Daycare. Checks will be cashed, held and applied to your account upon enrollment. Your deposit will only be refunded if care is terminated by either party during the two week trial period. Parent will only be charged for days of care.

Payment Policy/Attendance

Payments can be made monthly on the 1st of the month (monthly paying clients), and on Friday’s (weekly paying clients) at drop off for the next week’s care. Your rate will remain the same during your individual contract unless attendance is stopped and restarted. In those cases the current rate will apply. Payment is based on our contract, not attendance sick or otherwise. Multiple late payments are cause for immediate termination and will result in forfeiture of any deposit(s).

Part Time attendance

Your contracted hours and days cannot be changed on occasional basis. If you need a more flexible schedule you are welcome to add days in which parents will be charge the next tier rate according to requested hours and days. A newly signed contract to reflect changes will be required. Additional days are subject to availability.

Late Fees: An automatic late fee of $25.00 will be charged if payment is not received on the first of the month or on Friday if you are a weekly paying client. A daily fee of $20.00 will be charged thereafter for any additional day(s) late with payment. Child care will not be provided to clients with outstanding fees. Child care will be reinstated when payment and late fees are paid in full.

NSF Fees of $25.00 will be charged for any NSF checks plus any fees my bank charges provider (average $44.00).

More than one NSF check will result in cash only as payment.

Overtime Fees: $10.00/hour for prearranged overtime.

$5.00 per 15-minute increment or portion thereof, starting with the first minute in cases where overtime is not prearranged.

Please be courteous and arrive on time, our family time is important.

Deposit to hold a space for your child/children

To hold a spot if not immediately starting, half the monthly fee is required per month held per child. If starting within two weeks of enrollment, only your initial non-refundable deposit is required. Once your child starts, the regular payment schedule will start. If you are a monthly paying client the full month’s fee will be expected on first day of care. If you are a weekly paying client the first week’s fees are expected on first day of care. The holding fee will not be applied to your account. This is a convenience fee to hold a spot for your child.

Illness

For the health of your child and the other children in daycare, please do not bring a sick child to daycare. Provider will only care for children that do not exhibit any of the following: vomiting, diarrhea, a fever of 100 or above, drainage from the eyes, nose or ears. Or, has a contagious disease such as pink eye, strep throat or lice (child will be check at drop off). Provider will care for children that have mild cold symptoms and that are otherwise feeling and acting well. Please call if you are unsure if they should be in provider’s care. Backup care is the parent’s responsibility.

*If your child develops any of these symptoms while in provider’s care, they will be isolated and you will receive a phone call to retrieve them within the hour. Please remember that it is the parent’s responsibility to arrange alternate care when ill. These guidelines are for the health and safety of all the children in provider’s care.

**Once the child is removed from daycare due to illness, they may not return until the symptoms requiring removal are no longer present, usually 24-48 hours. A doctor’s note may be used to clear any contagious disease if the doctor deems the child to be well enough to participate in our daily activities.

***DO NOT MEDICATE YOUR CHILD BEFORE DROP OFF TO MASK ILLNESS

Policy for children requiring exclusion from daycare

A child with any of the following illnesses must be completely free of any symptoms before returning to daycare. If the child is taking antibiotics for an illness, the child may return to daycare after the initial 24 hours of beginning antibiotics and is no longer contagious, and is otherwise feeling well enough to participate in our daily schedule. Signs of illness include the following; unusual lethargy, persistent crying for no reason, runny nose (more than clear), cough (more than slight), difficulty breathing, diarrhea, vomiting, any type of sores related to the illness, rashes (note from doctor stating non-contagious is ok), pink eye, chicken pox, mumps, measles, roseola, hepatitis A, impetigo, lice, ringworm, scabies, strep throat, scarlet fever, tuberculosis, shingles, and any other contagious disease or rash.Any child with a fever of 100 degrees or above, orally (in the mouth), or axillary (under the arm), may not attend daycare.State law requires that we notify parents of children who have been exposed to certain contagious diseases. Please notify us if your child becomes infected.

Medication

Medication is not administered unless a consent form is signed and a doctor’s note showing that the medication has been prescribed for the child. Provider will administer Tylenol, or cold medicine with a signed consent form with specific instructions when it is to be given. Please inform provider of any medication given during the prior six hours. If your child needs medication to make it through the day, please keep them home.

Reporting Child Abuse

Provider is required by law to report any signs or suspected incidents of possible abuse or neglect. Your child can be questioned by the Child Protective Services at any time without your consent.

Meals

I provide breakfast, lunch and two snacks. Breakfast is served at 8:00am, snack at 10:00am, lunch at 12:00pm and afternoon snack at 3:15pm. If your child arrives after breakfast or lunch is served, they will be fed at the next snack or meal. Infants will be fed on their own schedule from 0-12m. Please plan accordingly and do not arrive with food or drink in hand. If you prefer to send all meals and snacks for your child daily, please make arrangements with provider in advance. Meals and snacks will be offered but not forced to eat. Milk or juice will be provided at each meal or snack and water offered throughout the day. Please notify provider of any allergies to foods. I will provide baby food for infants. Parents are responsible for breastmilk unless otherwise stated in the Food Program Enrollment. Provider will supply formula up to the age of 12 months.

Diaper Policy

Please provide diapers, and wipes. It is the parent’s responsibility to check periodically for low quantities of diapers and wipes. If your child has a diaper rash, please provide a written note consenting to apply diaper cream at each change if needed. Diapers will be changed every two- three hours or sooner if needed. Diapers with #2 will be changed immediately.

Toilet Training

Provider is more than happy to encourage potty training as long as the child is ready (typically between 2 and 3 years old). The initial start needs to be done at home for at least two weeks with success before it can be started at daycare. Parents will be required to supply pull-ups and flushable wipes. Children will be allowed to come to daycare in cotton training pants/underwear after they have been accident free for at least two weeks in pull-ups.Continual accidents will require a return to pull-ups until the child is truly potty trained. Communication between parents and the daycare provider is the key for a successful transition from diapers to toilet.

Toys

Provider will provide age appropriate toys for toddlers and infants. Infants will not be allowed to play with anything that is too small or could pose a choking hazard. Please do not bring toys from home, they will be sent back with mom or dad at drop off. Provider will allow a special comfort item that will help with transition period such as a blanket or a lovey.

Discipline and Behavior

Provider will use the following techniques when misbehavior occurs:

Positive reinforcement: The child will be encouraged when demonstrating acceptable behavior.

Redirection: The child will be redirected to another toy or activity.

Time-Out: This is a last resort and seldom used. If the behavior happens repeatedly, the child will be separated from the group to calm themselves and join back in when they are ready.

*If a child’s behavior is consistently disruptive or causing harm to others a meeting will be called to discuss a resolution. If the behavior cannot be remedied, arrangements will have to be made for the child to be cared for elsewhere.

Naps

Naps are a given between 12:30pm-3:00pm. Please do not pick up or drop off during this time unless previous arrangements have been made. The State of California requires a two hour rest period for children under the age of five. If your child is no longer taking naps in the afternoon they will be encouraged to remain quiet and on their mat/cot during this time. They can look at books or use our “Quiet bags” which contain a quiet activity. Children will not be forced to sleep. Children 18 months and younger typically will have a morning nap as well. I provide sheets for sleeping. Please provide a blanket for your child.

Drop offs and Pickups

Please arrive on time with your child ready for the day. Dressed and with necessary supplies. Please notify me within an hour of your scheduled drop off if your child will not be in attendance. If your scheduled drop off is at 7:30am please do not arrive earlier than 7:30am without prior approval. If your scheduled pick up is at 4:30pm please arrive at 4:30pm to avoid incurring late fees. Please make your goodbyes in the morning brief so that we may start our day.

No one other than the parents and designated persons will be able to leave with the child without written permission from the parent. I will ask for picture ID at the door. This is for the protection of the child and others in providers care. If there is a court order in place, provider will need to have a copy on hand. Provider cannot prevent a non-custodial parent from leaving with the child unless a written note from the custodial parent that supports the court order if there is one in place.

Termination Policy

Provider requires a two week written notice for termination of care. Any monies due to the daycare are to accompany your written notice in cash only. You are required to adhere to all policies and procedures during your last two weeks. Provider reserves the right to terminate care at will. Please note that if proper notice is not given by you, any weekly or monthly pre payment for care will be forfeited, your pre payments will not be prorated. This includes provider termination without notice. Your deposit will be applied to your last two weeks of enrollment after proper notice is given.
