Job Description

Job Title: Information Officer

Reports To: Carers’ Information Service Manager

Location: Carers Support Centre, 24 George Street, Croydon CR0 1PB

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week

Salary: £25,000

Duration of Contract: Permanent

Main Duties

  1. Produce all branded publicity materials for the Carers’ Information Service and Carers Support Centre.
  1. Produce our quarterly newsletter, Carers News.
  1. Produce our monthly e-bulletin, What’s New for Carers?
  1. Maintain and updatethe How To… A Guide for Carers in Croydon.
  1. Research and produceother information resources when needed.
  1. Work closely with our external designer on all CIS publications.
  1. Ensure all online publications are kept up to date, and review content of printed publications before re-printing.
  1. Maintain and develop the Carers' Information Service/Carers Support Centre website.
  1. Use social media to promote the Carers' Information Service/Carers Support Centreand relevant news items.
  1. Respond to developments in social media and explore how they could benefit the organisation.
  1. Maintain and develop the CIS libraries, in partnership with another member of staff who has library/information work responsibilities.
  1. Keep up to date with relevant legislation, policies and practice in areas affecting carers and those they care for.
  1. Disseminate knowledge to CIS staff, using techniques such as information meetings and emails.
  1. Respond to enquiries from carers and professionals by phone, email and in person.
  1. Use our bespoke database to log enquiries and add or maintain records of carers and professionals.
  1. Liaise and develop working relationships with professionals from other agencies to promote good inter-agency networking.
  1. As part of the CIS team, provide information to carers and professionals at annual events such as Carers Rights Day and Carers Week.
  1. Work closely with the CIS team to develop our work in accordance with our aims and objectives.
  1. Undertake any training and development required.
  1. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities as determined by the CIS Manager.
  1. Comply with the Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and any other policies and procedures of the Carers’ Information Service and the Whitgift Foundation.

Further Information

Hours of work are Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm with 1 hour (unpaid) for lunch
