CAREER EDUCATOR INTERN APPLICATION

Job Summary

Supervised and trained by University Career Services (UCS) Director; Associate Directors; and Career Counselors, Career Educators will provide career development services to Georgia State University (GSU) students. The intern will be focused in three main areas: Career Development; Employer Relations; and Graduate and Professional School Planning.

Essential Functions

  1. Directly support a UCS Associate/Assistant director in their semester & yearly projects
  2. Assist with on‐campus recruitment, career fairs, and other special events
  3. Foster new and current UCS relationships with employers, faculty, and staff
  4. Meet and greet students to assess students’ career related questions and concerns
  5. Direct students to resources and services to explore majors, careers, and graduate school options, and learn effective job search tools and techniques
  6. Make appropriate referrals for individual career counseling and other University resources
  7. Assist in the planning and execution of 30 minute career workshops/presentations

Requirements

  1. GSU undergraduate student
  2. A strong desire to impact the lives of your peers in a positive and productive manner
  3. Able to commit 10 hours per week Monday ‐Friday; with 1.5 of those hours reserved for personalized Career Training & Development.

This application is for an internship opportunity within the Georgia State University department of University Career Services (UCS). Undergraduate interns will talk with students about their future goals, conduct initial interviews, and provide career information and more.

Each intern will be expected to attend weekly group personalized career development/training sessions throughout the semester. It is during these sessions that you will receive the knowledge, experience, and supervision needed to fulfill your duties as a Career Educator Intern.
