Update from
Partners /
  • Care- Scoping potential programme areas, cash feasibility and program design.
  • PUI – ECHO: Bolori 6 targeting 18,400 individuals and E-voucher targeting 3,233 HH. CIAA: Bolori II targeting 3,335 individuals and E-Voucher targeting 3233 HH. Planning to target beneficiaries in Bolori 2,3,10 and 11 with funding from FFP.
  • CRS – from Dec 2016 – July 2017 $1,052,000- covering food, NFI (soap +Kitchen sets) targeting 3,782 HH -23,474 individuals. FFP Yobe State –Oct 2016 – July 2017 $ 3,403,907 – covering food targeting 10,288 HHs -59,786 individuals. OFDA Borno State – Multisectoral program – W/E-vouchers for NFIs+ seeds + tools.
  • IRC – FFP Borno State – Konduga LGA targeting 2700 individuals – 3000 Naira per month. Bolori settlement targeting 2211 individuals. Planning to target 1300 HH in Jere and MMC with ECHO fund.
  • Christian Aid – Cash activities carried out in Konduga LGA, Auno south and north, Mashemaria A and B and Jakana. Transfers 17,000 Naira to 1450 HH – 10000 individuals. Planning to takeover cash transfer from WFP in Bolori and working on FLA.
  • WFP- Continues to scale-up to 500,000 Beneficiaries by mid-year. Meanwhile, WFP is seeking eligible organizations to partner with in the implementation of the scale-up. In addition, WFP will invite VAM to brief the working group on its work and key linkages.
  • Partners' updates helped to identify areas where some partners overlap geographically. Partners such as WFP and PUI agreed to have a bilateral meeting to avoid duplication of efforts. Also, partners not currently captured in the operational presence map were identified e.g. CRS, WFP, Rescue and PUI.
  • Partners identified harmonization of cash transfer value as a first priority for the WG. WFP informed that the Vulnerability Analysis and Mapping (VAM) unit monitors and provides information on prices and markets on regularly basis.
  • Partners requested to be informed about the Government’s program/ activities on Cash in order to identify areas of commonalities, geographical coverage, approaches, and methodologies

  • WFP to invite VAM to make a presentation on Cash Transfer Value.
  • A taskforce on CTV will be set up to support harmonization of CTV.
  • NFI E-voucher TWG to be invited to attend the next meeting.
  • OCHA to liaise and inform the WG about the Government’s cash transfer programs/activities.

Review of ToR /
  • Partners requested OCHA to clarify the relationship/coordination mechanism that would exist between the CWG in Maiduguri and Abuja in the ToR.
  • With the on-going recruitment of the technical co-lead for the WG in progress, partners also requested OCHA to clarify if the job description for the technical lead is in tandem with the responsibilities highlighted in the draft ToR.
  • WFP maintains its stand on the technical co-leadership.WFP highlighted that the CWG is already a technical group and may not require a technical co – lead. Advised OCHA to recruit a coordinator with sufficient technical background to coordinate the WG.

  • The partners requested OCHA to recirculate the draft Borno CWG ToR and also share the Abuja CWG ToR.
  • OCHA to clarify if the job description for the technical lead is in tandem with the responsibilities highlighted in the draft ToR.

Cash mapping /
  • OCHA IM officer informed that the sectors did not provide report on cash activities in March
  • It was agreed that OCHA would collect information on cash activities directly from the partners for the month of April.

  • OCHA IM will collect information on cash activities directly from the CWG partners.
