While exchanging or offering the use of cars to Exchange Partners is entirely optional, we recommend that those doing so specify the terms of use and responsibility. This document can be used as a template. You can include or leave blank any fields to create the agreement that’s right for you.

3. General Conditions

• International Drivers Licence. This will be the responsibility of the Guest Driver.

• Normal Service Costs. These will be the responsibility of the Owner, including the tires, water and oil, which will all be checked prior to the exchange.

• Cleaning and Gas. The car(s) will be cleaned inside and out and will have a full tank of gas at the beginning and at the end of the exchange.

• Mileage Limit. What is the mileage limit (if any):

• Range Limit. What is the geographical driving limit (if any):

• Alcoholic Beverages. The consumption of these is prohibited while driving.

4. Breakdown/Accident

Breakdown. While mechanical failure due to normal usage and wear and tear will be the responsibility of the Owner, if the breakdown or resulting damage is due to misuse or negligence by the Guest Driver, they will be liable for the resulting costs.

Please seek the Owner’s authorization before repairing the car.

Accident. The Guest Driver agrees to reimburse the Owner for any portion of the insurance claim which is not covered by the insurance policy. If the Owner’s insurer refuses to pay for a claim, which has resulted from the Guest driver’s actions, the Guest Driver is responsible for the entire claim.

The Guest driver will be responsible and pay for any damage to the car not covered by the insurance.
