Captain Joshua Huddy Chapter DAR

January 9, 2012

Dear Guidance Departments:

We are pleased to send you information regarding the Captain Joshua Huddy DAR Good Citizen Award. This committee recognizes and rewards high school seniors who possess good citizenship qualities. Eachaward is given on a merit basis including completion of a questionnaire, essay and a letter of recommendation.

The DAR Good Citizen Award is open to all senior class students enrolled in accredited public or private secondary schools that are in good standing with their State Boards of Education. United States citizenship is not required. The student selected as the school's DAR Good Citizen must have the qualities of dependability (which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality); service (which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others); leadership (which includes personality, self-control, and ability to assume responsibility); and patriotism (which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation) to an outstanding degree.

The recommended procedure for selecting a DAR Good Citizen is for the faculty to choose a senior who has demonstrated, in an outstanding way, these qualities of a good citizen. Only one student per year may be honored as a school's DAR Good Citizen. Each school's DAR Good Citizen receives a DAR Good Citizen pin, certificate and wallet recognition card.

Enclosed is the application that is due by February 16, 2012. Please return applications by email or mail to the Captain Joshua Huddy DAR Chapter Good Citizen Award Co-Chair:
