Apply to be a part of the Cappies critic team! Between 6 and 7 students will be accepted as team members.
This is open to students who:
Are strong writers who can meet deadlines
Want to learn how to write professional reviews
Enjoy theatre and have a good understanding of productions
Are willing to attend 5 or more shows at other high schools
Freshmen and Sophomores who wish to be considered are strongly encouraged to apply. Juniors and Seniors will have priority, as will returning critics.
I am also looking for an alternate in the event a current Cappies does not fulfill his/her commitment.

A) Please answer the following questions. Your answers may be as long or as short as you feel they need to be.
B) Please also attach a play review, 1 page or less, that shows your wring style. It must include an opening hook, brief summary, critique of the acting and technical aspects, and closing. Re-applying critics can use a previous Cappies Critique.
C) Return this application and your writing sample in email to no later than 5:00 pm, Julty 21st. Late applications will not be considered under any circumstances, but you are encouraged to turn in your application early.
1) Please describe your involvement/experience with theatre. You may include experiences as an audience member, performer, technical worker, student, etc.
2) Please describe yourself as a writer and English student. Are you involved or experienced in journalism?
3) Do you consider yourself a mature and tactful writer? No sarcasm or harsh criticism will be accepted from any review writer, in spoken word or in written form.
4) You will need reliable access to the internet, an e-mail address, and must be able to meet strict deadlines the weekend of the performances you attend. Will you be able to meet this requirement?
5) Are you willing to commit to seeing and reviewing at least 5 shows throughout the year? The shows are located across Broward and Palm Beach County, and you will need to write a review by the deadline after each one. The dates will be provided/offered to you as soon as possible. They will mostly be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evening performances. You are allowed to see each show only once.
6) Do you believe that you can keep in confidence all comments made by critics during post-show sessions?
7) Are you able to provide reliable transportation for yourself to and from performances?
8) Why do you want to be a Cappie's Critic, and why do you feel you will best represent West Boca?
