The Capital City Ringers, Inc., under the direction of Nicole Leppala, will be in concert at [insert location, address, date and time]. The Capital City Ringers (CCR), an auditioned, nonprofit community handbell ensemble from the Lansing area, will feature a family-friendly holiday concert entitled Ringing in an Open Sleigh. The concert is presented as an old-fashioned radio show, and includes arrangements of familiar carols and holiday favorites, and more!
CCR is beginning its 33rd year of promoting excellence in handbell ringing. In addition to more than 150 Malmark handbells and handchimes, the concert includes a variety of percussion instruments and a few surprises, adding a distinctive “CCR touch” to the concert.
Nicole Leppala is starting her second year as CCR’s music director. She has served as the director of music at Hope Lutheran Church in DeWitt, Michigan, since 2000. Nicole has served twice as the president of the Lansing Area Ministry of Bells and strives to encourage and teach congregations how to promote music in the church through handbell ringing. Teaching ringing techniques and musicianship in ringing as a clinician and guest conductor throughout the Lansing area has introduced Nicole to many great people.
The fourteen volunteer ringers and their director perform more than twelve concerts each year and have toured extensively in Michigan and beyond. The ensemble has collaborated several times with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and has performed at Handbell Musicians of America events and with many other instrumental and choral ensembles from the mid-Michigan area.
