ABOUT THE FIRM

CapeCoder.com, Ltd. was awarded its first contract in November 1998 and incorporated in March 2000.

We are a 100% woman owned business.

Since our beginnings, we’ve completed projects for dozens of companies and organizations. Projects have ranged from a week to six months. Our longest engagement has been with the same customer for over 7 years .

We are unabashed believers in the power of technology to improve daily life and business processes. We’ve helped our commercial customers become more profitable, and non-profit organizations offer new, creative services to their clientele.

CapeCoder offers .NET Web, desktop and mobile software development services and with our selected partners, a full range of design capabilities, including Flash programming.

We can and have worked either directly with customers or as sub-contractors; the latter have been some of our most challenging and gratifying assignments, in which we’ve had the opportunity to do project work for such distinguished clients as Bank of America and MSNBC.

We have experience working with companies in the following sectors: financial services, manufacturing, broadcasting, travel, non-profit organizations, retail, real estate, marketing, education, manufacturing and medical research.

We are proud of our contributions to our local technical community. We have given presentations at business conferences and at the local Community College and in 2005, our founder launched the Cape Technology Workshop, which offered classes in robotics and computer programming to middle school students.

We have sponsored the Cape Cod .NET User Group for four years and were among the first sponsors of Geek Girl Camp, a meetup and unconference that educates girls/women who want to learn more about all forms of technology. As leader and co-leader of the .NET User Group, our founder has mentored less experienced developers and brought nationally known speakers and state-of-the-art resources to our community.

PROJECT EXPERIENCE

KCEnterprises/Irrigation Automation

We developed a desktop application that collects and displays measurement information from an RF (Radio Frequency) network using the Modbus protocol. Written in .NET 3.5 in C# against a SQL Server database, the application allows a user to set threshold levels and alarm notifications. As devices are polled, the application evaluates the measurements and triggers an alarm, a sound and/or an email or text message, if the measurement is above or below threshold values.

New England Powersports

http://www.newenglandpowersports.com

CapeCoder has been working with New England Powersports and/or its affiliates since 2001.

We created a portal application with a unified search of used vehicle inventory for four retail stores. The application was written in ASP.NET/C# against a SQLServer database. We also wrote a response email module and an HttpWebRequest module that POSTs to a sales prospect aggregator. The application has increased sales leads significantly and facilitated cross-selling between the stores.

Cycles!128

CapeCoder has written internal and password-protected ASP.NET/C#/SQL server applications for this recreational vehicle dealership's Warehouse, Inventory and Parts departments.

These include:

PartsChecker: allows customers to look up the status of their parts orders online.

Warranty: checks the status of vehicle and tire warranties and displays the contract images, which are rendered as bitstreams from a SQL Server database. Provides audit and second-level approval management reports.

MajorUnits: searches inventory and displays results based on user privilege level.

These applications have given our client a competitive edge by helping them to control expenses and by providing value-added services to their customers.

Motorcycle Riding School

http://www.motorcycleridingschool.com

CapeCoder created an online student enrollment application that includes class and range selection, self-rescheduling, credit card processing and business rule implementation. The administrative “back end” includes reports for instructors and administrators, a grading module and a student records view and edit module with levels of user authorizations.

The application is written in “classic” ASP and currently runs on IIS 7.0 against a SQL2008 database on a Windows 2003 server. We wrote the web application, installed the payment processing module and designed and programmed the database. Annual maintenance activities include creation of new class and range schedules, site redesign and upgrading/porting to the latest versions of IIS, database and operating system.

This application is in its eighth year of operation and has allowed the Riding School to increase their enrollment while retaining the same number of administrative staff.

BMW of Cambridge

http://www.bmwofcambridge.com

In conjunction with our partner M3 Graphic Design, CapeCoder created a high-end marketing website with a Flash intro, custom photography and graphics. The original application included an events calendar, Google maps and an administrative back-end that allowed the dealership to maintain database-driven content for new vehicles, events and specials.

DotComERGO

We partnered with DotComERGO to create a Zip code proximity search for their client www.makemypoolsafe.org The module computes distances from a given zip code to the 10 closest retailers using a third party API and a MySQL database.

Leighton Realty Rentals

CapeCoder wrote interfaces in ASP.NET/C# using the .NET Framework XML namespace to consume and display rental property data web services. The client commented that they found the code to be clearly written, easy to understand and highly configurable. In addition, CapeCoder helped them to port their sites to a new hosting provider with no loss of content and no downtime.

SmartPak Equine LLC

CapeCoder modified, developed, unit tested and debugged complex database driven e-commerce web applications for this $35mm Inc500 company.

Specific objectives included the development of a unified login process for the company's major websites, a redesign of their main product page, the creation of order response emails and improvements in the company's custom shopping cart.

We also created Pay Per Click (PPC) data feeds and sitemaps to support their SEO goals.

The work was completed using ASP.NET, C#, JavaScript, CSS, XML, XSLT, Visual Studio, CVS, NUnit, MS T-SQL queries, views, stored procedures and DTS packages.

These projects resulted in higher conversion rates and allowed our client to better evaluate and maximize their SEO strategy.

Back Office Associates

CapeCoder wrote enhancements to a C#, SQL Server-based development framework that is the template for building dynamic web applications used in large-scale SAP data migration projects.

We also developed a Windows application to compare and synchronize databases using the RedGate API. Scripted database structures were converted into a true object model, and a new conditional script was generated. This new script allowed a consultant/analyst to preserve customized target database structures while “synching up” with changes made to a master (source) database. This is an enhancement to commercial script generators, which would have overwritten custom changes in the target database.

Housing Assistance Corporation

CapeCoder engaged in an end-to-end design and development effort to create a HUD reporting data collection application for this $16 million nonprofit agency. The ASP.NET/C# web application allowed remote facilities to input their data without the burden of installing extra software or paying licensing fees. We also designed the SQL Server 2000 database and wrote an encryption algorithm to store confidential data.

We worked with the client to develop functional specifications, business rules and data validation procedures conforming to Federal and local agency requirements.

Onset Computer Corp.

We contributed to the development of an n-tier Java SE multi-threaded application for remote data access and management of internet-enabled embedded systems.

Our specific contribution was to design and document the MySQL database, including all stored procedures, write the OR/M classes, and develop the JDBC/connection pooling (c3p0) database layer.

Zumatrix, Inc.

CapeCoder developed a C# Windows Mobile 5.0 application suite that interfaced with Zumatrix's Matrix Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Data is scanned and written to a SQL Mobile database, then serialized to XML for upload to a PC via ActiveSync. Our desktop application deserialized the XML to a dataset, then updated the client’s LIMS database using Matrix's proprietary COM components. CapeCoder also participated in the installation of the Matrix LIMS system and wrote the test plans and user documentation for both the mobile application and Matrix.

Marketing Advocate/Webfodder

CapeCoder developed a custom Contact Management System (CRM) in ASP.NET/C# against a SQL Server database containing over 160,000 records. We also wrote an interface to the SalesForce.com web service.

Convention Data Services

CapeCoder developed interactive, database-driven online applications, including the Macworld trade show/conference registration site (33,000 registrations) using ASP, VB, VBScript, JavaScript, SQL Server in high-volume, fast-paced Rapid Application Deployment setting.

We also wrote database file export utilities in VB saving 1 FTE in staffing costs.

Delray Beach Club

CapeCoder created a desktop application for maintenance of mailing lists and production of owner mailings and billings. This replaced an earlier application that was unmaintainable and error-prone. We also optimized and repaired the office PC, which had been so overrun with viruses and Spyware that the client was prepared to invest in new hardware.

The HR Consulting Group

CapeCoder performed data validation and data analysis for the first-ever Cape Cod Compensation & Benefits survey, including 100 companies and over 200 jobs.

Using Microsoft Access, we were wholly responsible for accuracy of the survey, the integrity of the data, and special analysis and reporting.

PAREXEL International Corporation

CapeCoder re-engineered and re-deployed an 8-phoneline, 1.3 MB IVRS international medical data collection application. This 7x24 system supported the largest privately-funded hypertension study in the world. It enabled researchers to obtain real-time drug assignments for study patients over the telephone. We upgraded this application from VB3.0 (WIN3.1) to VB5.0 (NT) and added new functionality, including support for multiple languages, a system administrator's module, front- and back-end data validation, a system log and handling of user call input errors.

We also developed interactive NT/IIS Web database applications using “classic” ASP against Access, SQL Server and Oracle databases. These applications provided enhanced reporting and database update capabilities to remote users, reduced manual processes, improved data integrity, eliminated outdated record keeping systems and reduced paper-based distribution costs.

POSTCO Bedford, NH

CapeCoder worked as part of a development team that created client/server applications (transaction processing, security, data reconciliation, data retrieval and graphical display) for an insurance company billing and policy system that ran against Oracle 7.0 and 7.2 databases. We designed, coded, tested, debugged and documented PL/SQL stored procedures, SQL*Plus and SQR programs, reports and DDL scripts and maintained programs in Pro*C.
