CAP Money Plus for Ministers Caseworker

Department/team/location: CAP Money+

Reports to: Cap Money+ Team Leader

Salary: Starting from £20,548.00

Context of the job: CAP Money Plus is part of CAP’s centralised debt counselling telephone based services. It exists to provide CAP’s debt advice service to those clients who have been referred through from a CAP Money course. It is the intention to develop this service for those in church leadership, advertising it nationwide and providing it independently of CAP Money courses.

Main purpose of the job: To be involved in the development of this specialist service for this important sector of the Christian community. To provide options for the client to get out of debt, initially by providing an orderly solution from the potential chaos of their finances. To manage own portfolio of clients, working with CAP Money Plus for Ministers clients and to communicate the advice through verbal and written means.

Key accountabilities:

To be sensitive to the needs of this client group, bearing in mind peculiar income and taxation issues.

  • To set up new accounts for suitable clients who have accessed our service through the CAP Money web site.
  • To create a financial statement for each client, formulate and deliver the advice recommended
  • To deal with client queries as they arise in an efficient, appropriate and timely manner
  • To proactively manage clients’ cases
  • To liaise and work alongside Creditor Liaison Unit, Insolvency in order to deal with the clients debts
  • To promote the full CAP Service to ministers who do not presently have a CAP Centre in their church.
  • To give the clients a taste of the high standard service CAP offers.

Measurable outputs:

  • Number of Financial Statements activated per month
  • Number of Financial Statements created per month
  • Time taken to activate a new case following referral
  • Account retention

Pastors invited to and or attending a Church Partnership Day (CPD) or similar promotional event.

Other responsibilities include

  • Being sensitive to the particular needs of this client group and willing to pray with them over the telephone
  • Where necessary be part of a CAP Money training day, to train existing CAP Money coaches on the benefits of CAP Money Plus and to be available to answer questions where appropriate
  • Be involved with CPDs as appropriate if contacts are attending.

Person Specification

Knowledge

  • A good level of general education including GCSE or O’level Maths and English

Experience

An experience of church leadership is preferable but an ability to empathise with the stresses of church leadership is essential.

  • Administrative experience including telephone based customer service
  • Experience of having to work using your own initiative
  • Experience of working as part of a team
  • Experience of dealing with highly sensitive situations – Confidentiality is a particular need for this client group.

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when communicating in challenging situations
  • Sincere acceptance and understanding of the Christian purpose of the Charity
  • Ability to focus and prioritise time, tasks and attention in a pressured environment
  • Excellent administration skills
  • Logical, articulate approach to work
  • Ability to work accurately and quickly whilst under pressure
  • Competent user of computer and internet
  • Comfortable around numbers and things financial
  • A confident, quick learner with a capacity for large workloads
  • Capable of maintaining own emotional well-being
  • Good ability to work well independently

Life Changers & Prayer

  • This role, as with all roles at CAP, requires that the individual is willing to ask friends and family to support the work of the charity through our “Life Changer” regular giving programme. Generating Life Changers is to be seen as an ongoing part of this role with the organisation.
  • CAP sees prayer as a vital part of the work we do, seeking God’s help in many and varied situations. This can be expressed through large groups praying together, small groups or departments praying, or even individual prayer about situations. The individual must be able to actively participate in such activities as an expression of their own personal faith and in line with CAP’s statement of faith.
