CANADIAN KENDO FEDERATION
SENIOR LEADERS’ FUND
Purpose:The Senior Leaders Fund is to assist CKF leaders of each art to upgrade and advance proficiency in their respective arts and to expose Senior Leaders to international level of practice.
a) Qualifying senior instructors must have Go Dan (5th dan) or higher.
b) An application request must be submitted for approval to the treasurer (CC.the president) to prior to the event / seminar. A brief description of the event / seminar needs to be provided.
c) The instructor must be a current CKF member from a CKF dojo. Priority will be given to the first applicant from each dojo.
d) To insure that stipend payment is issued in time, the application will be required to be submitted at least thirty days prior to the event / seminar.
e)The event / seminar location must be taking place other than the instructor’s metropolitan home area. No award will be given to attend an event within the instructor’s home area.
d)Awards can be approved in the amounts $100 and $200 and are decided by the President.
e)Only one award per applicant per Art can be awarded yearly. Qualified applicants practicing more than one Art can also be eligible for an additional award for a second event. Combined events or seminars consisting of more than one Art will qualify only for one award.
Any events that already pay or reimburse expenses to attending sensei are not eligible for this award. Duplication of funding awards from other funds for an event will not be considered.
f)All awards are at the sole discretion of the President.
The types of events or seminar that can be pertinent for Kendo are attendance at the annual FIK American Zone Shinpan Seminar, Canadian National Kendo Championship (CNKC). For Iaido or Jodo leaders this could include attendance at the Annual Guelph Iaido/Jodo Seminar, the AUSKF Iaido Summer Camp and Seminar sponsored by FIK, the Canadian National Iaido Championship providing that high ranking sensei(s) from Japan are present as seminar instructors. Other events or seminars not mentioned above, for instance regular type seminars or gradings, are not eligible for this award unless approved by the President.
Please note that this program is subject to CKF finances. Adjustments or restrictions may apply contingent on our financial situation. The maximum annual fund is limited to Kendo $3,000 and Iaido/Jodo $2,000. Should total awards reach this amount, reductions of stipends will result.
